A really great work light but a bit bulky
Before I start this is not a negative review of the tool but a ‘What were they thinking review?’.I always go Ryobi for my all in one home tool solutions because of the common (but not cheap) battery compatibility. It’s obvious that the main thrust of their marketing is to make the tools affordable but up-charge on the batteries. But as you can have five times the tools as you would need batteries for the math makes sense. This work light is a great idea and convenient when you need concentrated light deep into something like an auto engine compartment. You can bend the neck and even focus the light and it is bright with different light levels. That’s the good side. The pain side is just how bulky and heavy this is even when you use one of the thinner batteries. The actual light is the size of a D cell battery but the rest is a literal Brick!I have no clue who would use this in place of a really good flex flashlight considering the clip is so strong (normally a good thing) because it needs to be to carry the enormous weight off the battery. It’s so strong you have to clip it to something really strong as well. Like a flat (well actually a really flat) area. It not flat it will come flying off. Forget about clipping it overhead on the engine hood because there is no flat place to install it on.Also no idea as to how anyone would need light for such an enormous amount of time that not only the bigger batteries give but even the thinner ones. This flex light at the end of a two cell D or C cell holder would be perfect. For fixed table lighting for long delicate projects this would be great. But as a mobile work light they missed the mark.Even Home Depot who is the Ryobi brand owner doesn’t stick this as they know that whoever touches it would figure out just how unwieldy this is.So I knocked off a star, not for what it can’t do that was advertised, but for the marketing decision to doggedly stick with the oversized batteries. So if you have a workspace that needs spot lighting on a semi permanent basis this is a good option. But as a utility light I have to admit it falls short. So just because you can put a small light on an all in one solution doesn’t always make it a good idea.

Love This Light
This has become my go-to light for various projects and activities. It provides a good amount of light, it’s easy to handle, and the battery last forever. I’ve even used it to also illuminate the cook area on my BBQ.

Light did not work.
It did not work. I plugged in a Ryobi battery and turned it on. No light.

Great for power outages.
The clip is strong and secure. The led light uses very little battery power and can run for many hours, we have several Ryobi batteries we keep charged for for our longer power outages.
