I like that it won’t rust.

It's an interesting blade. These are sharp. Sharp enough to accidentally cut skin, but less so than other metal knife cutters I have. I tried these to cut the insulation off wire and found I could hold and cut the insulation but not cut my skin. This is something I wouldn't dare do with a regular knife blade. These also didn't seem to knick the copper wires under the insulation. Both being able to hold the wire, and not cut the copper is really handy though for how I tend to work. They seem to cut cardboard and tape just fine. And they would be safer than a metal box cutter. Tape doesn't seem to stick to the ceramic blade as much. I'll still be careful with these, but they fit a niche between extremely sharp and sharp enough to do the job. An extra blade is included and it can be stored in the handle by pulling off the butt-end, and pushing it under the installed blade. I expect that ceramic last much longer than metal blades, but time will tell.

This utility knife is very well made. The body is made of metal and feels very sturdy, unlike some other products that are wobbly. The ceramic blade is very sharp. it cuts through the thick plastic with ease. It says it won't cut the finger. It didn't cut when I touch it gently but I wouldn't try to slide the blade over my finger or press hard on it. I am sure it will hurt and break the skin. But then why would anyone want to do that!? This is a great product that I would recommend. BTW, it also comes with a spare blade in the package.

The build quality of the knife is average. Feels like cheaper plastic was used to build it. The blade is ceramic so it is not as sharp, but sharp enough to cut through cardboard and tape. The blade does move around when putting a lot of pressure on it so that might be a design flaw. Overall a 3/5 with it being useable for certain scenarios but also dangerous to use in others.

The normal plastic handle box cutter is inexpensive. simple and straight-forward. I go through 2 or 3 a year because the plastic handles are always breaking. You will not have to worry about that with this box cutter. The handle is robust, made of thick gage flexible plastic that should take years of abuse. What is most interesting is the ceramic blade. The blade is made to the same size as the normal 18mm steel blades so you can use them interchangeably, but the ceramic blade will not rust and seems more resistant to gumming up. Also the blade will not get dull due to corrosion. It is very sharp and cuts through cardboard easily. It does not have the ability to break off the tip like a steel blade so you can't get a "new" tip; the blade is one continuous blade. On the other hand, that means the blade won't accidentally break at the "snap-off" indentation. Time will tell if this is a more economical blade or not but for now this ceramic blade seems to a worthwhile experiment.
