FCA1616 is worth every penny if you are a Linux user.
You cannot beat the price of FCA1616 if you are a Linux user. After you register your FCA1616, you get a free license of Traktion 5 compared to what you are getting out of Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 or Presonus 1818VSL that came with software that only works in Windows and Mac. I have FCA1616 connected to my Linux machine via USB.However, the only negative is that in USB mode, the blue LED light can deprive you of sleep if you have it in your dark room, such as your bedroom. I bought http://www.amazon.com/LightDims-Original-Strength-Minimal-Packaging/dp/B00CLVEQCO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460741954&sr=8-1&keywords=light+dim to bring that piercing blue light down to the point where it's dark. The two cons I have are the front of the audio interface being red that I did not like and 8 insertion jacks. You cannot use them directly with your DAW and be able to use hardware effect units such as TC Electronics M-One XL. For this kind of logic, the audio interface will need to expose 24 inputs and outputs or 18 inputs and outputs depending on whether you are using either coaxial (2 ins and outs) or optical (8 ins and outs) digital connections.I would rather buy Behringer U-Phoria UMC1820, but it isn't available in Amazon. However, the FCA1616 has been great in Linux so far. I've upgraded from my Echo Gina3G which exposes analog I/O and digital I/O as two separate sound cards. Depending on the digital I/O you select, FCA1616 exposes all the analog and digital inputs and outputs in Linux as just one sound card.

Cheap and a little cheap
Ok for the price but a hassle to deal with. My unit needs to be disconnected and reconnected after a reboot for the firewire to be recognized. other little things small pains in the butt...But it has the most features at this price point.

I own two and neither of them work
I bought one and it worked very well for a year before it quit completely. I figured I had done something wrong and inadvertently fried it, so I bought another one. That one went down in a month. The second star is because they work flawlessly right up to the point where they suddenly don't work anymore.

Great piece of hardware!
I'm running this connected to a MacBook Pro 15.4" Core 2 Duo with Logic Express. No lock ups reported, and there was no drivers to install. Item is extremely to use, and recordings are clear sounding. The onboard microphone preamps are quite nice (the frequency response sounds true to 20hz-20khz), but if you feel you need to add to the quality for vocals, you can still run a tube preamp into one of the other channels 5-8). The design is patch bay friendly, and the outputs can be routed to an outboard mixer. Apparently, if you register the product, you can actually download an open source multitrack program sponsored by Behringer for free. I haven't tried that, yet. If you're a home studio recording enthusiast, this is the item for you!

First Off I love Behringer. They general provide quality gear at prices that real musicians can afford. But this piece is crap.It looks good. But it is not a 16 channel I/o interface. Yes it is capable of processing 16 channels and streaming to your computer, But it is not capable of taking in 16 inputs on its own. You need an additional 8 channel device hooked up through its rear panel optical interface to utilize channels 9-16 on the FCA1616. This is not clearly stated anywhere with the product. So if you are looking for a standalone 16 channel audio/PC interface, move along.Yes I do know that expecting to find a 16channel audio interface at $250 is unrealistic, but hey - that's what this thing is being described as. Unfortunately it has proven the reality of this principle. And even more unfortunate - I can't even gauge whether this this is good for an 8 channel piece because upon installation, the drivers are failing to recognize the device. So I can not get it to function.

Love it!!!
love this interface...i have to admit i am a beringer fan!!! great for recording (pre production stuff, home studio rig, etc) and live performanceshonestly dont like the fact that I had to buy an adapter to run firewire...your better than that beringer...get it together...to bypass that option would have to run it usb...find there to be a slight delay so not too much of a fan of that option. I use it alot when we are missing musicians even bgvs and run everything through their individual channels. Great buy...great value..

Great interface if you bother to get to know it.
Having read all the reviews between here and Sweetwater.com, I can say that I've been able to replicate just about all the reported issues; from clicks and pops to various connectivity errors, and it all comes down to missing or botching a step somewhere along the way. If you want something that "just works" out of the box with no installation procedure, you might want to do some more shopping around, and for that I dock a star.On the other hand, if you tend become intimately familiar with your hardware, (you read the reviews, you watch the unboxings, and then you tinker with EVERY advanced setting available,) then there's no reason why this interface shouldn't install correctly and serve you well for years to come. I'm running mine under Windows10, Behringer's ASIO driver v6.13.0. MY DAW (Ableton) picks up on it right away, the sound is free of artifacts at all sample rates / bit depths, the latency is almost nonexistent, not to mention the unit looks great in my rack! What's more, the Windows WDM integration is flawless so I don't need to configure every last bit of software to output to ASIO, or worry about getting sound from software that doesn't have those sorts of audio output settings. There is some momentary "crackle" as you switch from one sample rate to another, but I rather like that, it's kind of like being able to hear your car shift into a different gear; that audible confirmation of a shift in performance. I'm pleased with my purchase.

Great interface but I bought it with the intention of mounting it on a rack, and my package didn't come with the rack mounting hardware. Very disappointed in this oversight and I can't seem to get in touch with anyone to try to have them replaced.

Behringer doesn't work with Win10
I can only recommend not to buy this product if you are using Windows10. Neither the Firewire nor the USB drivers works. The home page of Behringer is not really user friendly.I gave up on this and are selling it again.
O**.
It just about works
Well, it's a Behringer product. I recommend saving up a bit more for a Focusrite box. The Behringer does the job, just about. Expect latency issues and noise/ glitches. No real user guide or support.
