PME Edible Lustre Spray Gold 100 ml

I tried this product, for the first time on my daughter's birthday cake (see photo) in gold. I used it with the PME gun (which I would recommend). It went on easily and gave really good coverage. Covering this cake illustrated used the entire tin, so you would probably get two normal cakes covered with a tin. You need to be careful not to linger whilst pressing the trigger on the gun, or the coverage is a bit too much and can look patchy. Would recommend for a good finish. Try not to touch the surface afterwards. even when dry, as it can leave fingermarks (although my cake was in a fridge due to the ingredients and this may have made it damp).

This product did just the job. I needed a gold visor on a helmet and this worked really well. You do need to shake it well as the instruction say and I did need a couple of coats. I was working with quite a small area so was tricky to get it even, but it only made the visor look more authentic in my opinion. I think if you were spraying a large area this would work really well as you could hold the spray further away from the cake than I could. It is a good gold colour, not just a yellow look as some other products I have seen. Really good in a can as you can see when it has been painted on over a large surface area. Would buy other colours in this range.

Although this definitely does make icing look goldish, it was not as good as I had hoped. I sprayed a few items to add to the cake but it wasn’t such an even coating with some areas the spray almost clumped together and then there were white gaps underneath - did not end up using them as would have looked odd with the other gold items on top! Still have a 4* as did spray gold but I clearly haven’t got the knack!

This spray only covered a two tier cake, and I'm unsure if thats good or not. I have supplied an image for you to see the spray on my two tier cake. Though both tiers were sprayed similar amounts, the difference in the colour of the two different icings of each tier under the gold spray is quite noticeable. This didnt bother me, but just know the colour of whatever you are spraying will influence the final gold colour quite a lot. Finally, the spray had very little impact on the taste of the final product. Also I sprayed onto meringue buttercream, and the spray stayed sort of wet on the icing, never really dried.

Easy to use great for spraying buttercream cakes where you can't use the lustre powders. One thing to be aware it has a lot of fall out as you spray make sure you do it away from other items you don't want to be glittery

Arrived on time. A little pricy for the amount but it made my cakes look really beautiful and shiny. Very impressed. So easy to use

Looks great on cupcakes and cake!!! Use lightly if you want a light shade of gold, keep spreading if you want a deeper gold

Nice product! Gold was a little bit too yellow...very small can! Ran out of spray for my project!
