Great, but make sure it's what you need.
Was looking for a replacement head on a birch snare drum previously fitted with a Remo Ambassador. I had used the Evans Dry before on another (albeit steel) snare drum with good results. This was going at a very good price but I was a little worried that it might be too dry being the HD Dry version (this has a thin underlay of dampening material - a bit like an "O" ring) fitted underneath the head as well as the small vent holes around the perimeter. Needn't have worried though, as (coupled with a new Evans glass 500 head on the snare side) I got a very nice focussed sound which suits my playing & the music genre . I'm not a fan of moongel or other external dampeners, so this head has met expectations. Probably more suited to pop/rock music than (say) light jazz or quiet styles, and would seem to be a good choice for recording or close-miking up.You need to think about what you're after before buying though as there are two versions and if you need a lively open sound then this type of head may not suit at all.

Excellent batter head for Traps 12" thin snare drum
I bought this to replace the stock Remo UT head on the snare drum of my Traps A400 portable kit. The Remo sounded pretty bad, much too long and too many pitched overtones. Putting on enough tape or moongel to kill the ring also suffocated the sound of the drum. This head sounded great immediately I got it tuned up, without any additional damping. Also, because this head is thicker, it allows me to tune the drum slightly lower which is a useful advantage on such a small drum. All in all it's made a 100% improvement to the sound. If you like a tight, crisp 70's studio sound to your snare drum but don't want to go to the extreme of a hydraulic head, this is an excellent choice.

Sounds great on my maple 14 x 6 snare drum.
No over tones or annoying ringing. Has a warm sound & looks great. I used this on my maple 10 & 6 DW collectors snare.

A good skin
Having used Remo Ambassadors for years thought id try something different. This skin gives a nice solid snare sound that while reducing overtones doesn't completely kill them. Coupled with a dab of moongel on a Pearl sensitone i got the best live sound ive had for a long time. Recommended.

Very easy to tune
I have used these heads now on a birch premier xpk drum, a premier 2000 aluminium snare drum and a pearl chad smith steel signature snare . While they kill some of the unwanted overtones , these heads still let the snare feel lively and responsive . Very easy to tune . The coating has been very durable . Not worn through yet like they always did on my remo ambassador heads in a relatively short space of time . Get one now.

good skin
My son's snare needed a good recondition having seen a few good years battering. this skin is realy good, i'm not a pro, but I can hear the diference, he has gigged with it a couple of times and its good for both heavy metal and jazz styles.
