Superb, if compact, science kit!
This kit contains numerous items: horseshoe magnet, bar magnet, 4 x round magnets, a vertical stand (to hold the round magnets), iron filings, etc. They are fairly small items but my daughter is 5 years old and loved using them, under close supervision. The booklet that comes with it gives a variety of experiments/demonstrations that you can easily do with your child and they would all naturally lead on to wanting to create/explore more complex ones later on. My only gripe (if that) would be that the manual covers only the very basics of each experiment so I chose to supplement it with another book so that I fully understood what was going on each time. I therefore felt more confident answering my daughter's questions as well as explaining the process in a slightly different way than the printed booklet, which helped her to grasp it better. This is such a great starting point for anyone who is interested in science and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Delighted son
This is a lovely magnetic set that offers hours of fun with a booklet full of ideas. I do have two criticisms though. Number one, the box, once opened, becomes a bit award to use again as storage. Some of the magnets themselves are tiny and there are other tiny components that I far will be lost in no time. Still, I'm pleased.

Disappointing
Item had all the pieces but the whole package appeared low quality with small pieces in a large box. Even the manual was A5 This was bought as a present but does not have any of the wow factor it could of had. Disappointing.

A very happy grandson
My grandson was very happy to receive this for his sixth birthday, and very seriously worked his way through the "experiments". The age guidance on this product is 8 years and up, so I wouldn't have chosen it for him at 6 except that he had been asking how magnets worked, and received a good report for "science" at school and is an able reader. His mother was delighted that he took it so seriously and worked so well with it. I would definitely recommend this Magnetic Science kit for any little boy or girl who is interested in how things work.

open the minds of young children
My 8 yr old grand daughter, living in Hong Kong, was fascinated by the various experiments which we made together. They will widen her inquisitive mind.

In this season's lockdown, get your kids to take a break from screens & electronics and have them experience the real world by exploring these magnetic adventures. This has plenty of experiments & some games that are fun and educational. The included booklet not only explains how to setup the experiments but also gives a good summary of the concepts, so you dont need to send them back to screens for researching. It definitely suits 8+ but there are some experiments which 7 will enjoy, like the infamous levitating rings & some fun with iron bits. They can then grow into this. Now the hard part. Experiments require some movements (like moving hands & eyes & using your brain) which children nowdays are not used to, so parents need to work with the kids to at least start things off. Note that, these 30+ experiments are not meant to be completed in a single go. Do, one or two at a time to keep kids interested.

We have loved Thames and Kosmos in other kits and this one is a hit too. I was considering getting my son iron filings to learn more about magnetism when I found this set. They put iron filings in a thin clear plastic case where a kid can learn from them, but they are contained. The other stuff is great too. My son especially likes the floating rings.

My kids had a blast with this science kit. We homeschool, so we do a lot of project based learning. This kit was a key part of learning about magnets, and the kids had fun playing with it. It's very durable, and a great value for the money. Mine didn't have missing parts.
