Renaissance definitely aLive in New York
This is a great live recording and it's so easy to imagine yourself there. Also it sounds fantastic, mastered with great care and attention by Repertoire. My introduction to Renaissance was in 1977 via BBC Sight & Sound in concert. I recorded that from the TV speaker via the microphone that came with a battery powered Philips cassette recorder, those were the days! That C60 tape was played and enjoyed many times, despite having to turn over mid song.40 years later that show is available on a boxset, but I didn't want to pay so much when I had reservations about the sound quality to be had. So I bought this 1975 concert with full orchestra instead, with a similar setlist. Boy-o-boy it's a real joy, with band, orchestra and crowd in great form. The 2 long tracks that make up CD 2 take you on a rewarding musical journey with the power to move you spiritually and emotionally. In April 2016 I saw the current (US based) Renaissance in London with Annie and even at her age delivered a fantastic show. Music like this is timeless and sadly beyond the ears of many youngsters fed a diet of musical pap from "performers" who can dance a bit but for whom proper singing or playing is not on their CV. For those of us lucky to be in the know, here is a fantastic treat to be enjoyed. Why wait any longer?

Excellent
This is a wonderful live album, which captures the band at the peak of their powers. It's great to heer them play to an appreciative, responsive and respectful audience and this album gets as close as possible to actually being there. The part in 'Ashes are Burning' when Annie hits the high note and the crowd applaud and clap along is amazing. It's a pity that Renaissance were never as big as some of their contemporaries, but the consolation was that the fans they had were dedicated to them.

A remarkable album
Renaissance were at their peak when I was at university and they were always my favourite band. It's interesting listening to this album again because you realise how outstanding they really were. Technology has moved on since the 1970s, but you won't be disappointed with this album; it's a terrific recording. Annie Haslam has such a beautiful voice, which brings tears to my eyes when she sings Mother Russia. There are very singers who can do that. I have read that they got thrown out of Russia when they performed that song in Moscow! I am very pleased to hear that they are touring again and have released a new album.

A great "Live" album
A great "Live" album, just a bit of microphone feedback on Ocean Gypsy! Otherwise post production is very good. The performance of Annie Haslam's voice, the band and orchestrations is excellent. It is one of those albums that the more you play it the more you appreciate their performance and musicianship. The skillful song writing makes this an album to sit down and listen to on your own and let your imagination drift, especially when listening to "Scheherazade" other's Iike "Mother Russia", "Running Hard" and "Ashes are Burning" are just Renaissance classics that to my ears is just timeless music. So pleased I bought this CD's.
