How To Play Keyboard: A Complete Guide for Absolute Beginners

Really good book, arrived promptly and in good condition. Ordered this book for grandson at Xmas so this is second order for a birthday gift.

Simple enough for a complete beginner. As you practice more and make your way through the pages, it gets a little more challenging, but that’s good. It lets me practice over what I have done closer to the start, and as I make my way through I can get a good challenge without having to go buy another book. My sister also had a look though out of curiosity, and although being a child she didn’t take most of it seriously, she understood the concepts once she paid attention.

I 'm effectively a beginner on keyboard, but with reasonable musical knowledge from other instruments. The book introduces keyboard concepts well (e.g. keyboard functions)- but not piano, it doesn't get your left hand moving well enough.I raced through the first half of the book in my first session, but for an absolute beginner it doesn't give enough detail e.g. how to count half beats, or give any tips on how to make sure you've got the right rhythm. The exercises were all pretty basic and don't build to anything even approaching difficult so it's pretty easy to complete the book and not have a great understanding of how to actually play.I tried to teach myself to play about 20 years ago, and stopped after a year or so. At that point I was using a beginner piano book and if I still had that would find it much more useful. There were more tips on technique, more exercises and tunes to learn, and the tunes were more interesting. I wish I still had that book, or could find it to buy.I think this book would really suit someone with a little musical knowledge who wants to transfer it to keyboard. The book is really a taster to see if you want to learn properly.

Si eres un absoluto principiante en lo de tocar el piano, no recomiendo que uses esta serie. Yo caí, por puro desconocimiento, ya que ignoraba que las notas DO RE MI FA SOL LA SI , en el sistema anglosajón (el que utiliza este cuadernillo), equivalen a C D E F G A B C. Total: que, si como principiante autodidacta, ya resulta difícil colocar los dedos correctamente en el teclado, y más aún, seguir una partitura,, solo falta la dificultad añadida de que las partituras vengan escritas con el cifrado americano y tengas que tener en cuenta las equivalencias. El cuadernillo es visualmente agradable, está redactado en blanco y negro, trae varias canciones sencillas y da unas someras explicaciones sobre la colocación de los dedos sobre las notas (recordemos C. D, E, F, G, A, B, C,) pero, como ya he comentado; no me ha servido de nada. Eso sí: si no tiene problemas con el cifrado anglosajón, adelante.
