Was easy to set up on my Shopbot cnc. Works as I exspected it to.

I set this up in a CNC mill, it repeated down to .0001” every time. The ruby probe measured .118” I would have preferred to see an even size like .200” for easier machine setup. The ruby probe should remain stable with temperature fluctuations. I use them all the time on the CMM

The circuitry appears to function for a minute or two, but after this time it drains the CR1632 battery completely. There is no on-off switch, but even if there were, this would not be acceptable. Also the battery holder was incorrectly soldered.

It does work even on wood and plastic, a bit of a setup curve but worth it, definitely a good idea and a nice time saver

The perfect size means that the tool Z centerpoint is known perfectly without any guessing. Sure, you could build this simple device relatively easily, but my time is worth more than the low cost of this item, which quite simply does that job it's supposed to do.

Seems to be fairly well made. However, the LED is not very visible at all due to how it is positioned in the housing. It does not reflect very well through the acrylic light pipe portion and appears quite dim. It is not very visible at all. Especially being red. They should have made the LED green so it would appear much brighter to the eye, or added a buzzer. Using in a bright shop will require careful attention to the probe to ensure you see it light up. The other downside is the housing is aluminum. I knew this before purchasing. It will grow and shrink with temperature changes and may cause some accuracy issues. Just be aware of it.
