I brought these for my sons rugby boots that seemed to stink the house out during post match drying. These seem to reduce the smell considerably. They fact they are natrual is a great bonus.

I put these bags in my cycling shoes after each ride. They've dramatically improved the smell of my shoes as the season has progressed. On top of the odor control, they also help to draw out the moisture from wet rides. All in all, I'm super happy with the product.As far as "re-charging" them, once they start to smell funny I just place them in the sun for the day (on a window sill usually), and they freshen right up.
