A Little SPOT: My First Emotions

I bought this book because I am a children's therapist and I love the Little Spot of Emotions books and videos! I have this book for work and my niece has a birthday coming up so I bought this for her as a gift! I use this book so often with kids as young as 2-3 and as old as 6-7 depending on developmental abilities. This book is perfect because it isn't super big. I love how solid the cardboard is making it great for little hands. The colors are super bright and the words are easy to read. The tabs make it great for going back to use it again and again during conversations. The book pairs well with all of the different videos and is a great introductory to all of the different emotions. I really like this one compared to some of the others because it is a bit shorter. The pages have fewer words which is perfect for kiddos who struggle to sit still. I'd recommend this book to any children's therapist or even parents who want to get a start on teaching their kids about emotions from a young age.

Great book for young children, we loved the prompt at the end of each emotion to ask when the child felt that emotion last. Helps it to be a little more interactive.

We love this book. Really simple first emotions. My son uses the language from it sometimes. It is a little old for him ( 2 yrs) as it poses questions about when emotions are felt but good chance for modeling and helping him think about it. I like that it is fitting for many ages. The other spot books are great too

I bought this book for my toddler grandson and his parents. I have noticed in the way that they talk with him that they have been reading/studying this book. They will ask him questions about how and what he’s feeling and ask him to use his words to express how he is feeling. This book is a great way to teach little ones how to label and recognize their emotions. This book the best purchase ever!

Excellent first book for getting your toddler familiar with different emotions and normalizing them. Easy to read, understand and discuss. The book asks prompting questions like "When have you felt sad?" Or "When was a time you remember feeling loved?" So it's great for narrating and repeating back & giving the child a chance to explore their feelings. Also in the middle of a big feeling episode one could reach for this book and be asked to point to what they are feeling.

My boys (1 and 2) absolutely love this book. It has become a favorite and a very good way to teach little ones about their first emotions.

This book is great at giving kids a visual representation of their emotions! I love the animation and colors used to describe each one. We love this book !

My 3 1/2 year old chooses this book a lot. He loves it and it’s a great way to learn about feelings. It’s nice and study for a house with a baby.

I really like this book. Deals with emotions in a simple and fun way for young children. There is also a song on you tube that goes with book.

We read it lots especially when having difficult emotions! At the end of the book I always ask my boys which one are they feeling and they point out which one they relate to in the moment!

Super colourful, gives easy names for different emotions. I've used this book to help my toddler show me how he's feeling as he can't tell me exactly what he's feeling yet. Very cute book
