This book is perfectly silly and fun. The cutest book to read not only for your little ones birthday but anytime. Engaging and interactive, it’ll keep your little engaged the whole time.

This book checks off many of the things I look for when choosing books for my son. Board books are perfect for babies and toddlers. I bought this as a gift for his 1st birthday and 4 months later he still enjoys having this book read to him. I like the colorful and interesting illustrations. Lots to point out and discuss while reading. I love rhyming stories and so do kids. The story is silly, cute and interesting. A rollercoaster of emotions to experience. Fun ending. I definitely recommend this book. I can see myself buying it as a birthday gift for other kids as well.

Sandra Boynton books are so much fun to read, and babies and kids love to listen to the funny, bouncing rhymes, and to read along with you when they are a little older. This book is very sturdy and perfect for little ones. Great quality!

I buy this for nearly everyone I know who has a baby. Such a cute book! My kids, who are 28 and 30, can still recite this word for word!

I love the books by this author, particularly this one. It was given to me for my son's 1st birthday. My son loved this book when he was little and enjoyed having me animatedly read it to him almost every night (for about 5 yrs!). We both had it memorized and now it has been passed down to my grandson. Whenever I am invited to a baby shower this is one of the books I purchase to give to the parents to be and hopefully their young children love this book as much as mine did. Thick cardboard stock pages and small for little hands to help when being read to or just looking at the book by themselves. Fun story too!

Love these book got them for my sons 2nd birthday

Such a cute story. I am a nanny and I love reading this with my munchkins - its a great book for all ages, though it's especially wonderful for little hands and little attention spans (: Sandra Boynton books are a favorite of mine to give to kids as gifts, or just because! In this case I gave this to one year old boy girl twins on their birthday. I think its great for young readers to identify the monsters' very silly and absurd behavior, and love the ending makes up for the comical day the birthday hippo endured.

Bought this for our baby’s first birthday. It is beyond cute. She loves it and we don’t tire of reading it. Definitely in my top 3 favorite Boynton books from the parent perspective. This is a book that I think will grow with her more then some others (e.g. “Are you a Cow?”).

I love Sandra Boynton books and this one is no exception. I just love the look on the hippos face. Its a great little story and you just can't believe these birthday monsters are so naughty but of course there is a happy ending.
