Does what it says on the can
Our recently bought motorhome washroom had turned yellow from the years of colour fade (21yrs old) was going to replace the washroom not realising it would cost a fortune then saw this. Wasn't really thinking it would help but wowza it's brilliant and we have a gorgeous white washroom that looks brand new. Absolutely recommend this product, easy to use, does the job, good finish.

Works well
Good paint and covers well, test the effectiveness of the spray before using on your main work, many light coats give a good finish and drying time between each coat is short, nice finish, but take your time.

A versatile solution for painting plastic surfaces
The Rust-Oleum AE0030001E8 Direct to Plastic Spray Paint in White is marketed as a versatile solution for painting plastic surfaces without the need for priming or sanding. This is particularly useful for those tackling DIY projects or giving a new life to plastic items around the home. Here’s a detailed look at its performance, the good and bad, and everything you need to know before using it. What’s Great: Direct to Plastic Application: One of the key selling points of this paint is that it is specifically designed for use on plastic surfaces, without the need for a primer. This is a major time-saver for DIY enthusiasts, as it simplifies the process of updating plastic furniture, decor, or even toys. You can apply it straight to plastics like PVC, polypropylene, and more without the added step of sanding or priming. Smooth and Even Finish: Once applied, the Rust-Oleum Direct to Plastic Spray Paint delivers a smooth, even finish that looks professional. The paint lays down evenly, with good coverage from a single coat, providing a solid, uniform colour. The white shade is crisp and bright, giving items a fresh, clean look. Fast-Drying Formula: The paint dries fairly quickly, usually within 20 minutes to the touch, with full curing time of about 1 hour. This makes it an ideal choice for people who want to complete their project quickly. You won’t need to wait around for long before being able to apply a second coat or handle the object. Durability: Once cured, the paint has good durability and resistance to wear. It holds up well against the elements, making it a great option for both indoor and outdoor plastic items. Whether you’re updating a garden chair, plastic storage container, or outdoor decor, the finish is resilient to chipping and fading over time. Wide Range of Applications: Rust-Oleum’s Direct to Plastic Spray Paint is suitable for a variety of uses, such as plastic furniture, plant pots, storage containers, and even plastic automotive parts. This versatility makes it a go-to product for anyone looking to refresh plastic items or customise them with a fresh coat of paint. What Could Be Improved: Limited Coverage Per Can: While the 400ml can may seem like a reasonable size, the coverage is somewhat limited depending on the project. For larger items, you might find that you need multiple cans to achieve the desired finish. While the paint applies evenly, the amount in one can might not be sufficient for extensive use, especially for larger plastic surfaces. Potential for Drips or Runs: Like many spray paints, if you apply too much paint at once or spray too closely to the surface, the paint can start to drip or run. This can ruin the finish and require extra sanding or re-coating to fix. It's important to apply the paint in light, even coats to avoid this issue. It may take a little practice to get the application technique right. Not Ideal for High-Traffic Areas: While the paint holds up well for general use, it’s not the most durable option for plastic items that are subject to heavy wear and tear. Items like toys, heavily used furniture, or garden tools might see the paint wear off quicker than expected, especially if exposed to frequent handling. You may need to touch up the paint after some time if the objects get a lot of use. Not as Resistant to Heat or Solvents: Though the paint is durable, it may not fare well in extremely high-heat environments or with exposure to solvents or chemicals. For example, if the plastic items are regularly exposed to high temperatures (like garden tools that are left in the sun) or harsh cleaning products, the paint may start to show signs of wear sooner than you’d like. Noteworthy Observations: Easy to Use: The spray nozzle is designed for easy application, and the can sprays evenly, which helps prevent uneven coverage or streaks. The ergonomic design makes it comfortable to hold, even during extended painting sessions, and the mist pattern is adjustable for more controlled application. Odour: As with most spray paints, the Rust-Oleum Direct to Plastic Spray Paint has a noticeable chemical odour. It’s important to use it in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes. If you’re sensitive to strong smells, consider wearing a mask or using the product outdoors to minimise exposure. Good for Small to Medium-Sized Projects: This paint works best for smaller plastic projects, like updating garden furniture, home decor, or smaller plastic accessories. For larger surfaces or heavy-duty applications, you may need more coverage, so consider using multiple cans or opting for a different product with larger coverage. Verdict: Overall, Rust-Oleum AE0030001E8 Direct to Plastic Spray Paint in White is a high-quality, easy-to-use solution for painting plastic items. It provides a smooth, even finish, dries quickly, and is durable enough for most indoor and outdoor plastic surfaces. The ability to apply directly to plastic without the need for priming is a major convenience for DIY projects. However, it’s not perfect for larger projects, and the coverage per can might not be enough for more extensive work. Additionally, it’s best suited for moderate-use items, as high-traffic plastic surfaces might require touch-ups over time. Despite these minor drawbacks, this product offers great value for smaller DIY tasks and is highly recommended for anyone looking to refresh their plastic surfaces with minimal effort.

Great product when applied correctly
I used this to spray the plastic bits in an IKEA kids kitchen. So essentially the same as painting a washing up bowl. First attempt was awful and full of runs and drips, but that was my lack of patience. Thus product is best built up in multiple layers, with each one little more than a light dusting. It dries to a really durable finish, but give it at least 24 hours to cure. The end result is a smooth, hard, satin finish.

terrible product!!!
I don't normally write reviews but feel compelled to this time. Product was ordered yesterday and arrived today. So far so good. Used it to paint an extractor fan cover that had yellowed with age. Got to work immediately after delivery. It is too soon to say whether the paint is durable or not. I read other reviews of this product before I bought it - many of them said it splattered a lot, but I foolishly ignored these warnings and bought it anyway. This was a complete mistake!!!! Put a plastic bag on the lawn and the extractor fan cover on top of that. What I forgot was the rubber gloves and full hazmat suit! Other reviews said it splattered. What they didn't say that there was probably more paint in the splats than went on to the fan cover. It ran down the sides of the can onto my hands. It splattered EVERYWHERE! Who has designed this terrible impersonation of a spray can? Why doesn't it work properly? Utterly UTTERLY appalling spray system. Never seen anything like it and can't find words to fully describe what I think about it. I now look like I've been in an explosion in a paint factory and only the fact that it dries quickly has allowed me on to the computer to type with hands that now need some sort of paint remover to get back to normal.

Highly Recommended Used on UPVC Window Sill
I used this after my UPVC window sill had become grey, mouldy and yellow stained over the years. Here’s a couple of tips I used that might help you to get good results. 1. Where a face mask the fumes are intense, I presume everyone’s got one!!! 2. Make sure the surface is dust free, clean and dry. 3. Shake the can well for at least a minute or more. 4. It’s Important to give the surface you are spraying a quick light spray don’t overdo it as it will start to run and layer. 5. Let it dry and then see if it needs another coat, I found that I only needed one coat as the preparation I did before spraying was enough and also didn’t require any primers. The paint itself dries bright white with a glossy finish and the results are great as you can see by the picture.
