Nikon D60 for Dummies, Where have you been all my life?
Nikon D60 for Dummies has solved my problems. Yes, I had read the instruction manual for my camera, but still couldn't take great pictures of my son's baseball and soccer games at night. I tried everything, but only after I read the Dummies book, did I learn I had to do several things to make the pictures turn out right. It was explained in detail in simple terms, and PRESTO I have clear pictures with enough light and am very proud of my pictures. Now, all the other Moms are coming to me and saying "what am I doing wrong? Your pictures are so clear." Instantly, I'm an expert. It just needed to be explained to me and examples given, instead of saying "here's this button, use it" like the manual did.Thank You Nikon D60 for Dummies. I'm all over Facebook with my pictures now.

Excelent
I read this book right after Christmas and thought it was great. And, since I worte a scalding review of "Photoshop Elements 8 for Dummies" this morning, it seemed only fair to give some credit to the D60 book. You will enjoy the D60 book even if the Nikon is not your first DSLR and you already know the basics. Oh, the D60 book covers the basics in a clear concise way but it moves on to things that are specific to this camera. The author moves you through the book in a logical thoughtful way so you will not get confused. You will actually want to read the entire book and, as a result, you might think twice about simply shooting everything in 'automatic' mode. After completing the book, you will be smarter - and that's supposed to be the whole idea!

Smart Dummy Now.
Thanks to this book i see what an asset it will be in learning about my new camera i've always wanted, just reading a few pages and viewing the pictures, it will make this camera "funner" to use now that i understand what i need to do for the situation im in to make a better picture instead of just turning knobs and getting fustrated in what i think i know. What a great study guide to allow anyone to sit down with their camera and be able to do a hands on with the book and be amazed at the results there of. Enjoy!!!

I finally know what all the buttons do!
I've had my D60 since 2009 and love it. Any modern DLSR in auto mode is capable of doing a great job as a point-and-shoot camera, but why pay the price for a DSLR if you are just going to leave it in auto? This book will get you out of auto, and will improve your understanding of your cameras options and abilities. My pictures already show a marked improvement because I actually think about settings now instead of just pressing the shutter button.

A very useful tool
I haven't reading it all...so it might have been a 5 star. But- it's a hands on manual and very thorough. The explanations are clear, the photographs helpful, the layout is pleasing to the eye, and over all I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know more about the use of their camera and the features of the camera.

Incredible Resource!
This book is awesome. Very well written with excellent diagrams and explanations for the novice DSLR user. After reading through this book in just a couple of days I was able to go out "into the field" and use the camera in it's advanced modes. No more "automatic" settings for me. First time out and I've received accolades on the quality of my recent shoot at my kids high school track meet. Great job Julie! Highly recommend.

Excellent Book
My experience with many "after-market" guides has almost always been that you get a book with the first couple of chapters dedicated to product that you have purchased, whilst the remaining 80% book is a generic guide on the relevant subject - in this case photography. I suppose that, in this way, the publishers and author can use the vast majority of the material for a range of different products. What has impressed me with this book is that it is 342 pages dedicated solely to the Nikon D60. The illstrations are in large clear colour throughout, it contains frequent "screen dumps" from the information display on the camera, and all is explained in everyday language. This book starts where the manufacturer's hand book leaves off, and whilst the handbook tells you "what the camera does" this shows book shows you "how". I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone from beginner to intermediate level (which is after all the sector of the DSLR market the D60 aims to capture). For my money this book is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition, I am very pleased with it.

THE BIBLE
Having had a Nikon D60 for a couple of years and rarely read the instruction manual I have taken the plunge and bought this dedicated "Dummies" guide to my camera. With well over 300 pages it looks a little daunting at first. I have only read the intoductory chapters but have already learnt a lot more about the camera's basic functionality. I will read the book in small doses and that's probably the key to getting the most from it...read a bit and play with the camera at the same time. I hope to be able to use some of the D60's more complex picture setting modes in the not-too-distant future!Well worth the purchase price.

Without doubt the best camera book ever... (IMHO)
I'm a graduate from the 35mm Nikon FM. I've used compact digitals and been impressed but they just lack that flexibility. Bought the D60 with the 18 - 105mm D90 lens. Enjoyed the novelty and took some reasonable stuff but mostly by accident as the the instruction book is so dry and technical. This book shows everything you need to know to get away from the auto setting. If you are at all daunted by the technicality of the these cameras get this book. You WILL NOT be sorry. Superb.

A handy addition.
I've had my D60 for quite a while and didn't feel that I was using the camera to it's best. I came accross this and bought it on Kindle. It's refreshing to read and guides you through all that the camera can do and how to do it, in simple terms. If you're still a bit unsure about unsing your D60 to it's fullest, you could give this book a go. You'll be surprised at what you can learn (I was).
