FOM Violin Shoulder Rest - 1/4 to 1/16

This shoulder rest was the third in a string of rests I had purchased for my child't violin. It's really hard to find affordable, quality shoulder rests. This one has lasted longer than the other two together did.There are no rubber feet to lose and then let the metal scratch the violin. There is no cheap plastic foot holder to easily break off with repeated use.The feet collapse inwardly, which makes it easier to put into the violin case. My son finds it very comfortable to wear for his practices and lessons. So far, it's been a good buy and I would recommend it.

Bought it for my son's violin 1/4 size. It fits well and does the job

I have never played the violin and when my daughter's music teacher told her to purchase 'a sponge'. I was a little lost as to what that was. After a little research, I discovered it was a pad that you attached to the bottom of the violin and it gives support and padding between the violin and the shoulder. My daughter is very petite and has a 1/4 Violin and I didn't want something big and bulky sitting between the violin and shoulder. This FOM shoulder rest says it fits 1/4 to 1/6 and this is what attracted me to it.It arrived very quickly, appears to be good quality and sturdy when fitted. The instructions on the box weren't the best for working out how to fit it to the violin and that's why I've marked it down one star. It has little round screws at the bottom (see photo) which you undo to adjust the width of the rest, but once you work out what width is needed it is easy enough to fit onto the violin. It does need a little bit of gentle force to attach and my daughter does need help getting it on and off. The brackets are rubbery and hold the rest well in place.My daughter is happy that it's comfortable enough, I am happy that it's not bulky and because it's adjustable will hopefully last until we upgrade to the next size violin.

Does the job for my 5 year old

My 7 old has just started violin lessons, but was finding that it was rubbing across her shoulder.Her violin teacher recommended this affordable brand of rest. It arrived quickly and fits my daughters 1/4 size violin perfectly. She can now put it on & remove it herself. She says it makes playing much more comfortable.

This shoulder rest looks fine and would do the job on a 1/4 violin, but it is much too big for a 1/16 so wouldn't attach at all, which was very disappointing. It should never have been advertised as suitable for "1/16 - 1/4" size. Unusable for what I bought it for.

Great for a 7 year old starting out learning the violin. Easy to clip on and off and adjust as necessary.

Perfect for 1/4 size violin, difficult to put on the first time. My 5 year can't do it, I have to help her put it on her violin.
