Sennheiser GSX 1000 Gaming Audio Amplifier, 7.1 Surround Sound, Gaming DAC & EQ, for PC, Windows, Mac, Laptops and Desktops

I bought this as I was considering an upgrade to using my motherboards built in audio card. I have a pair of 60ohm hyper x cloud pros that are a few years old. I'd been using the on board sound card for many years and decided to take the plunge before considering a headphone upgrade.This gsx has greatly improved my audio enjoyment so much so that I will be keeping my existing headphones! The sound quality is excellent, I am now getting excellent bass for music, and the mic sounds great on gaming and zoom calls.For gaming thus really shines though. It identifies itself to Windows itself as two audio devices, a 7.1 surround sound output and a communication device. Thus you can toggle between stereo and 7.1 as required. The stereo is good for music and general pc use and the 7.1 is excellent for games. I've tried with a couple of unreal 4 titles and a couple of unity titles and it works well with both.You can adjust the positioning of the audio using a button on the front panel if the positioning isn't setup right by the game.Also the optional mic feedback into the headset is very useful to avoid speaking too loudly during gaming sessions. It works perfectly with discord.The setup of this is excellent. It's plug and play with minor setting changed to use the device in Windows. This is a killer feature to be honest. The many competitors including creative require software installs and useraccounts

Been hesitent to buy DAC/AMP for a while, having had a poor experience with other products. Bought this to go together with a pair of Epos H60Pro Headphones to replace my DT990, and had the delight of each product arriving a day apart meaning i had a full day with just the headphones and I can certainly tell that with this DAC, the audio quality has at minimum doubled. It's not plug and play as expected since it's a USB bus. As a result of it being USB, there is some configuring with the OS settings for everything to work as intended, but you can find very clear instructions on their website.Wasn't expecting as much quality as what has arrived. I can't find any gripe I have with the device and may update the review when I do.

An extremely useful bit of kit. As well as providing an easy way to switch between headphones and speakers, if so desired, it also provides two audio playback devices.Why is this useful? Well, you can set one of the devices to be your Windows default communications device, and the other as your default playback device. This gives you precise control over how loud both music/game volume is and also how loud comms/voip volume is. No having to tab around in windows adjusting sliders, there's a volume wheel on the side of the unit to control the Communications volume. Very nice touch.WIth regards to amplification, this certainly seems to provide more than enough volume for a general PC headset. I don't run more than around 40 at the loudest, so there's a lot of leeway.The interface is nice, although it's sometimes a bit easy to accidentally trigger one of the four saved presets, as the touch-sensitive controls are indeed very sensitive.Been using daily for 6 months now and not had a single problem.

I was hesitant on spending this much money on an external sound card. Yes, I'd read the reviews and understood it to be very good, but was it really worth the money? The answer is resoundingly YES!What can I say? Damned good when playing fps games, can pinpoint the enemies far better than before. The different modes and voice modulation tricks are all so subtle you don't realise its doing it.Yes, it is painfully expensive, but its worth every penny and its subtle glow passes the wife test, no gaudy RGB on this thing.

This item was great at first and aside from an issue with x570 mother boards where it refuses to power on when you turn your PC on ( had to disconnect and reconnect the usb everytime to make it work) it wasn't too bad but very pricey. Unfortunately after a while it started to hiss constantly and crashed my pc twice due to bad drivers. I tried many ways to fix this but had to get a return. For that money you should not have to put any effort into an external sound card after installing it. Will buy something better.
