Fully functional and multipurpose
The media could not be loaded. This metal book holder is certainly robust! I was pleasantly surprised by its ability to support my 1,280-page book! The seven adjustable angles enabled me to set the metal plate in the best position to support this huge book. The holder is useful for viewing all types of reading material (especially those with large pages like magazines) when there is limited space on my desk. My only regret is that I did not discover this gem before now! This is a fully functional and multipurpose product and I can confidently recommend it.

Light and sturdy
This is brilliant for my needs. I'd had a very heavy wooden bookstand before this but needed something slightly smaller and lighter - and this was it. It is made of plastic so is very light, but it's also sturdy enough to take quite heavy hardback books. I don't use it in the kitchen, but for reading and studying and with the large 'prongs' at the front, it's more than proved its worth. Thoroughly recommend.

I use this as a guitar book stand and it does the trick!
Even though this stand is marketed for holding cookbooks, I use it to hold guitar sheet / tab books, and it works just as well!Even though most guitar books will dwarf the actual stand, it does make a great job of holding them and the clips work well, so it doesn't really make a difference what kind of book you use! You can adjust the length to hold different sized books and hold them at varying angles. Though I'm not sure it'll hold a book as big or as weighty as an old-fashioned Bible for example or a heavy cookbook.Loses 1 star as it does look a little on the cheap side (even though it is cheap!) and I'm not sure it can withstand a heavy book, no matter its vocation! But otherwise, for the money a good purchase.

Really good book stand
Foldable, metal, sleek design that is very practical and user friendly, matt black is elegant to see as a book stand, can hold big & heavy books, it can keep the book on the page you want to keep it on to, definitely a good buy for those who likes to study a lot and use books.

Great Quality, Great Price, Great Item and it WORKS!
My job means I read lots for research and pleasure. Most books are old, out of print titles. They haven't been translated to Kindle yet. On subjects including Social history, War, Industrial heritage. These books often exceed 800 pages often around 1000. I mention this because most offerings on Book Rests/holders seem from experience of buying at least 4 different types, 3 available here at Amazon. Any book larger than 200 pages and the choice is limited to say the least. They are mostly catered towards disabled or elderly people with restricted movement or more so these days to Device tables. This stand from H&S is in a world of its own though, It works!! The best things about this stand are:Built of metal, quality heavy duty plastic.Has a ribbed lip where the stand meets the base of Book spine, this stops it slipping whilst on stand.Has 7 adjustable angle postions, each has deep gully where metal rear sits. Secure, doesn't slip out when turning pages or moving the book.2 front page grips that you can move independently. I've tested the following size books, each fits without problems:Paperback 600 pagesHardback 600 pagesHardback 900 pagesPaperback 1300 pagesSome books are really springy when first opening which can make some books sit a bit oddly on the stand but were secure. This would be great for students, hands-free reading, cookbooks and magazines too!

Sturdy and effective.
This is a compact, strong, book-holder which seems to work well for any size and weight of book. It frees up valuable space in our small kitchen and keeps the books away from spills and stains. Money well spent.

OK - But don't expect it to hold a book Open!
I need to use a bookrest to support my reading habit and after using a Bamboo wood bookstand, which was not only heavy and awkward to use but had started to warp badly. And so this aluminium based bookstand seemed an excellent idea; Light in weight but with a reassuringly sturdy feel about it, and easy to set up and fold away. But in use, holding any sort of book open with the fitted page clips is totally impossible, thereby, sadly, making the device 'unfit for purpose'. The only workable option seemed to be to use separate 'Bulldog' type spring clips, but unless the size of the book is approximately the same size of the back plate of the support and not too thick, that won't work either. Or at least, I didn't for me. So the practical option is to look for a similar product but with clips powerful enough to overcome contemporary books with so called 'ideal binding'
