My Egyptian Grandmother’s Kitchen: Traditional Dishes Sweet and Savory Paperback – 15 Sept. 2006

I've been wanting to learn how to cook egyptian food for a while now but never got the chance. Everytime I would visit Alexandria I would go crazy over my late mother in laws food it was simply amazing. My husband wasn't convinced about this book but once he read through the recipes he was so happy that I could make him all his mums favorite dishes. This book is 5stars because it allows us both to enjoy all the food mama would make for the family. Thank you so much for the pictures and the step by step guidance. If there is another edition I'm going to definately buy it. Sam x

This really is the kind of authentic, traditional Egyptian cuisine that would taste in their Egyptian Grandmother's kitchen! The recipes are quite simple and are exactly what would you expect to see on any Egyptian 'sofra'. The pictures are simple and clear and recipes easy to follow. This would make a fabulous addition to any cookery book collection - real authentic Egyptian recipes! Enjoy.

I took this book with me to Egypt - and got put in my place by the family members regarding this book, but guessing its a good place to start however quite a few of the recipes I tried were mediocre in comparison to the locals version. So this book currently gathers dust because I prefer the middle eastern book I bought.

Although the recipes are quite "usual" for a more ambitious egyptian kitchen, I enjoyed the stories and anecdotes accompanying them. If you aren't living in Egypt or have access to some Egyptian groceries, don't despair! I like the mollokheyya (jews mallow) recipes here!
