Noctua NH-L9x65: High-Performance Cooling in a Compact Design
The Noctua NH-L9x65 is a high-performance CPU cooler that is perfect for use in small form factor (SFF) systems or any other system where space is at a premium. The NH-L9x65 is only 65mm tall and features a compact design that makes it easy to install in tight spaces. Despite its small size, the NH-L9x65 is able to provide excellent cooling performance. The cooler features a high-quality 92mm fan that runs at a low noise level and has a maximum speed of 2500 RPM. The cooler also comes with a low-noise adapter that can be used to reduce the fan's speed and noise even further. The build quality of the NH-L9x65 is also excellent, it's well-constructed and feels very sturdy. I've been using this cooler for a few months now and it's been working great, keeping my CPU cool and quiet. If you're looking for a high-performance, compact CPU cooler that is easy to install, I highly recommend the Noctua NH-L9x65.

Top quality... Outstanding.. Am4..
Decided to update my media centre to Ryzen 7.. Msi motherboard G Skill Trident Z memory.. The first cpu cooler I waited four days to arrive.. I ain't gonna say what it was cos I ain't even gonna advertise something that failed.. The review said it would work.. But seems there are folk that like to put up faked reviews.. Complained to Amazon an got instant refund.. Impressed.. Then ordered this an it arrived at 10:00am the following day. Took five minutes to install.. Then probably fifteen minutes admired.. So this works 100% on new Am4.. Plus ya get fitting for older AMD.. An Intel.. Plus a nice long screwdriver.. It's super quiet.. Keeps my temps down.. I am now the biggest fan of Noctua products...

Built to last
I have been recently racking up two I7 4790 setups and I was looking for a descent CPU fan. It had to be: - efficient in terms of cooling, - fairly low profile to suit 3U rack case, and - quiet. I was torn between Shadow Rock LP and Noctua NH-L9x65. I used Noctua's fans for case cooling in the past so I went for the latter. As I could expect it was a good choice. The fan comes with AMD/Intel mounting kits, thermal paste, extension and splitting cables and Noctua case badge. There are manuals of course to allow user properly assembly and fit the component. The heat sink is fairly heavy and the CPU contact area is generous. Mounting system, as advertised, fits different mother board layouts without problems. Cooling efficiency is very good. Both systems operate with CPU temp between 24C to 28C idle/light use (20C ambience temp). I have recorded maximum of 38C (CPU) when the systems were heavily stressed by Photoshop or Studio One/Cubase projects. At this point I would like to note that the noise levels were very low/low under the CPU stress test. I do not have time nor inclination for carrying out scientific test but having built many desktops over last 20 years I have to say that this one is a clear winner to me. I would recommend it without blinking an eye.

Attention to detail
Fantastic quality heatsink and fan as always from Noctua. I wouldn't buy anything else. All of my Noctua reviews will have a star knocked off until they stop including that terrible dangerous screwdriver. The included screwdriver is needed if you want to mount the heatsink to your motherboard without detaching the fan (as it's skinny and long). The problem is it has a very poor quality chrome plating that flakes off on the first use. If you're not very careful you'll end up with conductive chrome flecks on your motherboard just waiting to cause a short and kill it as soon as you power your nice new machine on. It didn't need the chrome coating - be careful. It's a shame as my first Noctua (over 3 years ago) also came with the same terrible screwdriver which flaked chrome that time as well so they've had long enough to fix it. You should still only buy Noctua.

Best CPU cooler at 65mm tall
I got this cooler as it was the latest cooler which has the best performance for its size. I am using it in a small form factor case, the cooler master elite 130, which only has a max clearance of actual measured 72mm from the motherboard to the top of the psu unit. Coolermaster states in the specs the max clearance for the cpu cooler is 65mm and this heatsink with the attached fan is 65mm tall, so this is the largest cooler you can fit in the elite130. The cooler is designed to sit in the Intel stock fan area of the motherboard, therefore it doesn't obstruct any ram slots or the PCI express slot, or any other components for that matter. The clearance from the ram slot on my asus z97i plus mini itx board is 2-3mm. I am getting idle temps at 3.1ghz of 37-39C, at heavy load non gaming max 60C and at full load with prime95 running at max 3.8ghz 91 to 92C, all within safe limits of my haswell i5. It's silent at idle, just about audible at load and loud at max throttle, which is as expected, I am running it in PWM standard mode. This is probably the best air cooler you can buy at 65mm tall, and that's exactly what I wanted, the best air cooler for the restricted space I had in the elite 130. I was initially going to buy the corsair h80i cooler but changed my mind as I wanted hassle free and long term reliability of an air cooler over a water cooler as I believe there's too many things that can go wrong over time in a water block such as pump failure, pump noise, leakage etc, besides this cooler is half the price of the h80i! Highly recommended small form factor cpu cooler! Fantastic build quality and silent running heat sink
Maybe I have been too submersed in family life to not have noticed Noctua products before but WOW is all I can say. I have been building PC for friends and family for years now and I have used a variety of big brands but now my attention is drawn to Noctua. I wanted to transfer my old gaming machine into a HTPC unit so that I could use it in the livingroom. I needed to replace a Cooler Master Seidon 120V (water cooled heat-sink) as it was making a real din after only a year of light use. The Noctua NH-L9x95 was my choice this time after reading the reviews on here and I am glad I listened. From the packaging to build you will be impressed with it. Everything you need to install is in the box, top quality thermal paste, long reach screw driver, power cable couple (3 and 4 pin) and a choice of mounting options. The instructions are clear and concise making the product ideal for new builders to the experienced. The noise levels are extremely low and only on power on do you hear the fan stir into action. If you want quality and low noise levels then I cant recommend his enough. You even get a super cool Noctua metal case badge to wear with pride. Thank you Noctua !

Small profile, quiet!
Ordered this to replace the stock cooler which came with my Intel I5-8500 non-overclocked processor, the rest of the PC build was super quiet except for the processor fan which I found too noisy. Looking at reviews and wanting something low profile, also knowing the Intel cooler + PC fans were doing a good enough job at keeping things cool, I opted for the NH-L9x65. I've not been disappointed. The PC is now super quiet and still cool enough. The cooler fits well within my Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro board, and doesn't obstruct the memory sockets which I think some larger coolers can. Take your time fitting, read the instructions through before hand and follow them during. Anyone who has built their own PC shouldn't have difficulty but it's a key component so take the time to make sure you get it right. As a bonus it came with some thermal paste, again follow the instructions and you'll be fine. It helps if your PC case allows exposed cooler mounts under the main board, otherwise to fit this cooler you're going to be removing the board. This is a feature of good PC cases, and worth knowing about. I would recommend this cooler for a quiet, cool, life on a non-overclocked stock processor. Wish I had just bought it from the start but you live & learn!

Quality Cooler
Used this on a small PC build, on a MATX motherboard. The cooler is nice and small, so fits anything. For my motherboard (an Asus) there was tons of room for the RAM and large heat-sinks the motherboard has. There was also plenty of clearance from the M2 slot, which makes a pleasant change. Being Noctua, it is expensive, but the quality is high. It arrived well packed, with everything you need, including a long reach screwdriver. There are instructions inside, and also plenty of videos online. Instructions are very clear and precise. It assembles easily and with little chance of a mistake. The backplate is metal, not cheap plastic. The only difficulty is trying to get the tension in the two main screws about the same. It mentions how to tighten up the screws in the video. In short, tighten them until they stop moving but do not use a lot of force. As soon as they stop moving, they are done. Everything does as it should. Mounted normally, the cooler blows air out of the left and right sides. But the fan slightly overlaps the top and bottom, so it blows some cold air down those sides too. So all sides get air, which is good for surrounding components, especially any M2 SSD you have fitted. I ended up replacing the 15mm fan with a 25mm fan. The Noctua NF-A9 PWM chromax black. It’s basically the same fan as supplied with the cooler, but 25mm thick instead of 15mm. It happened there was enough room, so why not? I didn’t measure the difference, but the NF-A9 Static Pressure is better than 50% more so it must make a significant difference. Oh, and by the way, 25mm fans do fit because Noctua are really clever and there are two sets of indents on the heat-sink so the fan clips work with both sizes of fan. This is a mid-range cooler, and I think it's real strength lies in the fact that it is so small, it won't have many compatibility issues. It is not the most powerful cooler, but for low power builds it's perfect. Highly recommended.
