Prefer this to the Garmin Zumo version but needs care in mounting to avoid glare and requires a switchable 12 volt feed.
Have used this now for about 3000 miles of riding and really rate it.I also have the Garmin TPMS setup on another bike and much prefer the SteelMate to the Garmin, and it's around half the price.Comparisons:The Garmin sensors need to link into a compatible suitable Zumo Sat-Nav. They run quietly in the background and will only flag up with a screen message if there is a problem.Garmin Negatives.Occasionally, the signal will drop out and the screen will keep flashing a message that the TPMS sensors are not connected. Very annoying and distracting.Price. At around £120 a pair, the sensors aren't cheapGarmin positivesIf the Zumo Sat-Nav (and hence TPMS) is swapped onto another bike, it is a simple click-off, click-on. Remember however, that another set of sensors will need to be fitted.SteelMateThis is a semi-permanent mounted unit that gives a constant, alternating digital read-out for front and rear, with a green bar showing ok, and red for not ok. Mine's mounted inside a fairing angled slightly down so reading it isn't a problem.Steelmate negativesI initially fitted it to another bike's, handlebars, but light reflection was a real problem, making it often unreadable. A solution would have been to make a sun screen or a mounting bracket to locate it elsewhere, angled down, in a suitable, more shaded position, if one can be found. As the unit is wired in, it makes it difficult to swap onto another bike, if required. It requires a permanent, switched 12 Volt feed e.g. Hella Socket, or preferably, a suitable take-off point within the wiring harness.Steelmate positives:PriceBattery life in the sensors has been very good.Constant read-out.Conclusion. Would I recommend the SteelMate? Yes, but shield it from the light.

Not quit as advertised
I thought I was buying the Steelmate, but was sent one by EBAT, model number ET 900AE. Appart from the lack of lettering on the sensors they look identical and may perform the same (same manufacturer, just re-badged) The thing is, I find I could have got the EBAT version off ebay for £56 and not paid the price of the Steelmate. Now after a month of use, I can still not find a way of programming each tire individually, if there is a way of knowing which tire is being programmed and how to do the low pressure, I would love to know. Also, when turning on the bike the display shows the last pressure value when the bike was turned off, so I do not know the cold pressures until I have ridden a short way. I could have a slow leak and not know it unless I check the pressures every time with a gauge. That kind of defeats the purpose of having this.

I love it so far and will know more about reliability ...
I ride long miles, some times 12 hours at a stretch. This gadget works really well so far. I fitted it to the satnav mount on my Honda Goldwing dashboard . I am learning a lot about tyre temperatures now. Before I relied on the "feel" to know if the tyres were warmed up.I now learn that they take far longer than I thought to get warmed up !Very re assuring to have the green lights flicking when on a motorway run ! I love it so far and will know more about reliabilitywhen the season starts and I put a lot more miles on them.Excellent presentation packaging it was a joy to open on Christmas day.

Good idea. Difficult to initially setup
Easy to install, two wires to headlight, but the configuration of the values on tyres took multiple attempts and lots of foot pumping. Once done it works as expected and good to see a small change over a period of riding

Designed to last for duration of warranty
The front wheel sensor started slowly leaking air after 13 months in service. That was removed. The rear sensor started slowly leaking air a few weeks later. I got a refund from the retailer.
