Shea Moisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen, Grow & Restore Edge Treatment, 4 Ounce

I've seen a lot of reviews complaining that this product isn't an edge control or doesn't lay edges. Well that's because it's not an edge control, it 's an edge TREATMENT designed to moisturized your edges and stimulate growth. This stuff is meant to grow and strengthen your edges, not lay them. Don't even think about using this as any sort of edge laying product if your hair is coarse or curlier than 2A on the curl pattern chart. As far as what the product claims to do (none of which is laying edges btw), it delivers. Moisturizes my edges to minimize breakage with the castor oil, and I can feel the cooling sensation of the peppermint oil which is perfect for stimulation of edge growth. As far as being an edge TREATMENT, this gets an A+ The only gripe I have about it is the weird, jello consistency. never liked that about this product as t makes it awkward to apply, you sort of gotta smush it into your fingers or onto your edges and rub it in, and sometimes it crumbles up like smushed jello making it hard to apply. Definitely wish it was some time of cream or liquid rather than a jello consistency, but I won't take away a star for that.

I LOVE IT I LOVE IT NICE SMELL AND IT HAS GROWN MY EDGES BACK NO I DON'T WEAR BRAIDS OR WIGS OR HUMAN HAIR NO FALSE HAIR ON MY HEAD AT ALL.MY HAIR GOT THIN AS I AGED AND IT'S ONLY ON EDGES IN THE FRONT .THIS PRODUCT IT GREAT MY HAIR IS FULL ON MY EDGES NO BEEN USING IT FOR A MONTH NOW AND IT WORKS GREAT I'M PROUD I ORDERED THIS PRODUCT I WILL BE ORDERING ME SOME MORE BEFORE I RUN OUT I PUT ON MY EDGES EVERY OTHER DAY AND IT HAS HELP OUT SO MUCH I'M HAPPY

Good but wish it had more holding power.

I was very disappointed. This was so watery I gave 3 stars because I received the item.

This is the only product I’ve brought to help with edge growth and it worked. I did also use black rice water and coffee water, but I believe that it helped. I’ve purchased more than once because I wanted to make sure that it would continue to work after not having to use for so long. New hair dresser, old problem

This stuff really works I’ve seen a hug difference in my edges. I didn’t take any before are after pictures because I honestly didn’t think it would work. I wished I would have tho but it does work I put it on in the morning when I style my hair and at night before bed. I use a silk scarf and pillow case as well so between two methods and use this product my edges have grown a lot. The only thing I don’t like is the texture of it when it arrived it had done melted some which I was upset about they need suma to keep the product cool while shipping, but I just set it in front of the fan and kept it in a cool place it turned right back to its original texture after that . So other then that it really works for had growth will continue to use and buy.

This is by far the worst hair product I have ever bought! Whether or not it helps regrow your edges is besides the point of my review. I am more concerned with the product texture and consistency. I understand its purpose is not to tame edges, but to regrow; however this products texture is unacceptable. It is not a hard pomade, nor is it a silky butter like shea butter, nor does it have the consistency of a gel. I really just dont know what exactly I can compare the texture to other than just flat out jello (like the food). Its jiggly just like jello and its messy and beads up just like jello if you tear into it or aggitate it. Just think of how you touch the surface of jello and its firm and resistant. If you then pull back your finger, there is no substantial residue of the jello on your finger at all. That is what this product is like. Do not even try to run a small (baby hairs) brush through it because the brush will scratch the rough and highly resistant jello-like surface and come back with a bunch of jelloey beads. And when you apply to your edges you have to actively work to smash all the jello beads so they can be absorbed by the hair. Its such a messy product. Poor consistency and texture. I cant be sure of whether or not it does what it says its supposed to do but the texture is absolutely shameful. This was such a disappointment especially for SheaMoisture. Truly a zero star product, not worth a dime. Buy at your own peril.

I work in a super dry office/warehouse and this works great for wearing my hair naturally down. I mainly use this at night and first use sheamoisture leave in conditioner, add this to my ends (and any 'bad' dry section of curls), and finishing with a holding agent. Then I pop on a silk bonnet and sleep. I wake up and remove the bonnet, spritz my hair with water and it bounces out with no frizz and holds it shape all day. It I skip this the ends frizz and my hair looks bad. Sure I could use a gel but this is way more healthy and I get a a lot more compliments using it. I don't feel like this damages my hair and a little goes a long way.
