Cheap, easy and completely functional for use with Nintendo wii
I ordered this about 6 months ago and have used it every day since to record footage from my Nintendo wii with great results, it came fast after delivery and i managed to use it the first day i received it, the only problem was that the CD that came with it didn't install when inserted into the tray nor did the hardware(on windows vista laptop)but i went onto the website and managed to download both from there with ease, i have recorded about 20 videos and all have been good quality even on the low quality setting, to record the footage properly you have to go into the Wii settings and change the screen setting under Screen and then tv type to 50HZ(576i) instend of the default 60Hz(480i) and then the picture and sound will come on the preview screen(i personally don't see any difference) if the Wii is plugged into the device at the bottom or via 3 y splitter, i would personally recommend the y splitters and double sided AV cable method(because the preview screen can lag making it hard to play off of but the finished recording shows no or next to no lag with video and audio always in sync) which the device helpfully comes with, so you only have to buy the y spitters for 70p each from amazon with good results, finally the editing software included is simple but functional and you can still cut unwanted parts out and edit two or more clips together with effects and transitions but if it is to simple for you the files will work in Windows movie maker or any other editing problem, in conclusion this is a great capture device that gets great results and in total with the y splitters only costs About £21 and gets results from experience better than the Pinnacle dazzle dvd recorder which is twice the price and the Roxio game capture which is 3 times the price, it can also be used for recording any other consoles or devices with rca cable input also the systems requirements are low so it should work on most laptops or desktop computers. I highly recommend it. Update have been using for 6 months on lots of different games including gamecube games and the results have been great

Very useful piece of kit
I bought this product because I have a pile of old family VHS tapes which are no longer standing up to the test of time. I had considered getting a more expensive product but after reading the reviews on this one, I decided that there would be no harm in trying it. Overall the product is very good quality, doesn't feel badly made and does what it is supposed to. It comes with instructions which are pretty clear although I can imagine they might be a bit confusing for someone who is not computer savvy. You do need to know what you are doing with your computer in order to run this software! If you are more of a "plug in and play" kind of person, this probably isn't the product for you. My PC is a Windows 10 and it runs fine after the settings are changed as it mentions in the instruction manual.Really my only issue with the product, hence the slightly lower rating, is the size of the SCART adapter. It is huge and unfortunately as a result doesn't quite sit correctly in the back of the video player that I have borrowed as there is a bit of plastic on the adapter which won't go past the plastic on the VHS recorder. Luckily this doesn't affect the capture from VHS to the computer, but it won't allow me to watch the images as they are playing which is quite frustrating as it would be nice to watch the videos as I copy them. One option might be to get an S-video chord but I no longer own one and finding one might be difficult now.So overall a very good piece of kit, does what you want it to, fairly straightforward to use if you know what you are doing with your PC and good quality.

Read the manual VERY carefully
I am (finally) very pleased with this item, which does exactly what it says, as long as you read the rather sparse manual VERY carefully. The screen shots are very helpful, but the text is a bit sparse in BASIC tips, which can catch 77 year old fogies like myself (and young inexperienced ones) out. One simple and pretty obvious point, when you think about it, is to switch on the VCR (that is take it off standby) once you`ve installed the software, the next is to START the tape machine! We all thought that starting the programme off would cause the VCR to start playing. Not so. A very basic thing, but perhaps should be mentioned in the manual. I`m still wondering what the little button on the product is for - more research needed (by me!) I fear. The most important thing is to print out the manual and read it through IN DETAIL and preferably work through it step by step, exactly as it says, while setting up (not forgetting to switch the VCR on, of course). A quick explanation of which is the OUT scart socket on your VCR might be useful for we not-very-electronically informed folk, and it`s also a shame that the converter has to be plugged in so that the plugs you put into it are facing down, as is the in/out switch. A minor irritation, but an irritation all the same.I would ask that the makers/suppliers of this great gadget consider the fact that some of their purchasers only have a very basic knowledge (or none) of electronic gadgetry, and make allowances for us in their manual!Nonetheless, once you have it all sorted it IS a very good gadget - and much easier to install than I may have suggested - but, I say again read the instructions very carefully!
