Be warned, addictive product ahead!
What can i say? I love it & I am addicted to it. I found out about this type of red pepper powder from a Korean cook. As i use a lot of red pepper powder/flakes in my cooking as well, I decided to give this a go and, well, i am hooked. No other pepper flakes compare to this in my opinion. This is actually not a powder in texture but it is some very small sized flakes - so do not expect it to be anything like paprika powder. Heat wise, it's really versatile. To my taste, one teaspoon added to a salad for 2 provides a mild heat while 1 to 2 tablespoons turns on the fire. Delivery was fast, product came intact. I will definitely reorder.

Makes good Kimchi
This was a much bigger quantity than I thought I was buying but I'm glad. The Kimchi recipe I tried calls for 5 heaped spoonful's, so this is great.I made the Kimchi and then divided it into different jars to give as Christmas house presents.Nobody I gave one to had ever heard of Kimchi but now, after a few weeks, they have all tried it and love it.I put the main reason for the uniqueness of it down to this Korean chilli and will buy again when I need to.It's what we call a slow burner. Not too spicy to begin with but the heat increases a little the more you eat and, of course, the longer you leave whatever you have made with it to increase in flavour (within reason).

Versatile spice
Admittedly, this is the only brand of Gochugaru that I have tried but I’m happy with it. It’s a Korean pantry staple and featured in a considerable amount of recipes in my cookbooks; originally bought it to make kimichi and the sauce for Korean fried chicken and it worked a treat. The container is huge though, great value for money, so have taken to using it in all manner of recipes. Particularly love it sprinkled on eggs - a lovely change to paprika flakes!A great texture, somewhere between flakes and coarsely ground pepper, with a nice kick - but not fiery at all.Would definitely re-order when needed.

Good Quality Red Pepper FLAKES
Despite the packaging referring to the product as 'powder', it also says 'coarse' - so if you are looking for red pepper flakes rather than powder (which I was), then you've found them. I have always found this brand to be excellent, and these flakes have a lovely hot and nicely rounded taste. This tub is also a great size to fit in the cupboard - not so small so you'll run out too quickly, but also not huge and unwieldy.

Great taste and quality
The quality of this red pepper powder is absolutely top notch. Tastes great and wonderful in many types of dishes. Works great in kimchi, but also great for dips, dry rubs, woks etcetera. An absolute must-have for most kitchens, especially considering that it is not very hot and therefor appropriate for children as well.

Might not be korean origin chillies, but its still very nice
I use it for my homemade kimchi as well as other dishes and I like to return to this brand each time. They might not be korean origin chillies but are still quite nice.

Perfect for any dish
I made cucumber kimchi with this and it was delicious , it has a heat scale on the jar so you can adjust how hot you want it but it has an awesome flavour!

Very bland. You need to add more spice.
Split a Chinese leaves bunch and mixed with this chilli flakes. Half a day later the leaves didn't shed any of its water. I had to add coarse sea salt and the leaves then started to wilt and begin to froth into a kimchi style. The plus point with this spice is the colour and texture of the coarse chilli. I suggest you add your own salt, crushed garlic, crushed spring onions, small amount of crushed mustard seeds. Once starts to wilt, pack tight into clean jars, cover and leave in a dark cupboard for at least a week. The more froth you see in the jar the higher gut friendly bacteria content.
