PAWZDog - Black Dog Boots

The media could not be loaded.  My 14 years old Jack russell has arthritis and due to this her leg joints can be a little stiff resulting in knuckling (dragging feet) .These socks are perfect for protecting her nails but because of friction it does wear down pretty quickly. It would be great if the material could be thicker but after trying different boots and shoes this is the best option I have.It’s pretty tight around the leg so I might try a size S next time. Would advice to go one size bugger than recommended.Note: she only wears them when she goes for walkies. These are not to be worn for a long time.

I followed the guide and based on my pugs paw size and x-small listed for pugs, I first got the x-small orange one and it was waaaaay too tight for her leg. No way would I leave it on her. The black is the next size up and as you can see, there's quite a difference between x-small and small. Much happier with the fit on her leg but the paw part is quite big. I don't mind as I just need them for hot spots or she recently pulled a nail as she is now 12 and her claws don't wear well and can snag.I hope this comparison helps. My pug is female and quite small for a pug. Slightly narrower legs to my jack russell. There's no way the orange ones (x-small) would fit the jack russell pictured on the box. Make sure they are not too tight.

I brought a size small for my terrier who had hurt her nail and needed to keep it clean and covered whilst out. I appreciate the boot needs to fit, but they were hellishly difficult to get on as they are quite tough to pull in order to get them on and appeared too tight, but the medium was too big. They were great at keeping her paw dry until the claws cut through, so kind of defeated the object. I don't think I would buy these again.

I have bought these PAWZ in medium before , they came in BLUE and had no issues, I've reordered and they arrived in BLACK, within minutes of using they have split, they were also very difficult to put on. The Blue seem better quality & not as tight and difficult to put on.I can only think that the quality of the Black is different. It did not state either on ordering they would not be blue ( not that the colour matters but the quality does ) I will not be re ordering

One of my rescue bulldogs really suffers with his feet. We are currently on a long course of expensive antibiotics for recurring aggressive interdigital cysts. On top of that he has hyperkeratosis on his front pads. My Vet tells me in addition his body has tried to compensate by growing extra pads which as you can imagine aren’t as robust as his original proper pads. They are much softer and therefore more sensitive when he walks. We have tried a couple of the top brands for dog footwear and they all have the same problem of twisting on his foot as one of his paws splays to the side as he walks and we’ve ended up having to take them off on his walks. I didn’t have high hopes of these and the original plan was to fit these over his dog socks so he got the cushioning of his socks with the feeling and flexibility still intact.He set off in his socks and rubber boots very happily , never seen him so quick on his pins however his socks started to slip down and gather at the end of his toes. I had no option but to stop and remove the boots to take off the socks. Not to be deterred I replaced his boots straight onto his paws and expected him to slow down again but he was off again at a pace rarely exhibited in a slightly overweight bulldog.Personally I would like them just a tadge thicker which would suit my needs better however that said my boy is as happy as can be in them and can enjoy way more variety in his walks now they don’t have to be predominantly grass based.Incidentally one of the Vets at the practice recommends these for a variety of different dogs and their needs and I would echo that recommendation.They may appear very tight however they are super stretchy so certainly don’t cut off their circulation.Size wise we got large for our male bulldog, paw width approx 3inches.

Good for dogs with problem feet - keeps feet dry and keep toes in. Our dog has a protruding toe and the vet suggesting wearing these on walks to stop her catching the toe. They are thick plastic and do keep the foot dry but if left on too long can sweat the foot. Easy to put on but our dog pulled them off easily. We tried to tape around the top to secure but she still managed to get them off. Depends on the dog. They are true to size - I went up a size, but need to fit snug but not too tight . Several in a pack. Good if used for the right reason.

Have used these before - same size in camo pattern -for our dobermann with hyperkeratosis. Usually we get a good few wears out of them. She's done a couple of 5km trails in them!These black ones arrived two days ago and so far we've had less than half hour before they split and we've not even got outside our garden gate. Got through 4 already just in front paws alone.Hugely disappointed with this batch, not sure if quality issue but will now be looking for something more robust for my dog.I usually carry them in my first aid kit when out on longer walks/runs in case of paw damage but might rethink that too given how fragile these are!
