Horl is the best
I really love this knife sharpener. It is one of the most expensive roller sharpeners on Amazon, but I wanted a quality knife sharpener. When I researched it before I bought it, I found out it had one of the strongest magnets. That was important to me, since I wanted to sharpen pairing knives. Some of the reviews I have read talked about the fact that it didn’t work well with pairing knives. I haven’t found that to be the case. I just make sure that I put the knife high up on the magnet, and it works great. In fact, that is the main reason I got it was for my pairing knives. After I had already purchased the knife sharpener, I ran across a review on YouTube. They compared the Horl to the Tumblr, which is about $20 cheaper, and one that was about $40, which is significantly cheaper than the Horl and the Tumblr. The $40 one did not last very long at all. The Tumblr didn’t do much better. The Horl was by far the best. After a significant amount of sharpenings, it showed little if anywhere wear. I am definitely happy with my purchase.

Excellent sharpener
I’ve sharpened 5 of my kitchen knives with this so far. By far the easiest sharpener I’ve ever used. It’s consistent, got my knives exceptionally sharp in a short amount of time. I’m the kind of person that usually uses a whetstone and takes a long time to sharpen knives. Honestly- better results with this and a quarter of the time spent.

Expensive but works great!
I used to use a standard sharpening stone. Getting the angle correct is tricky so it was always a slow process.I got this as a gift and at first I was kind of confused. While I appreciated that it holds the correct angle for you, I wasn't sold on the rolling motion. But after using it I totally get it. Since it rolls, and since it holds the angle for you, you can roll it back and forth pretty rapidly. I would say I can sharpen a kitchen knife about 5 times faster with this thing. You just set it up and go back and forth and it will get knives super sharp. and by the way it rolls extremely smoothly, it's very satisfying to use.One downside though. Even though the instructions claim you can sharpen smaller knives with this I find that pretty awkward. It excels at chef knives but I don't use it for anything else personally. So I still keep my stones around for pocket knives. So it's a lot of money just to maintain your handful of chef knives. But it sure does work! I took it my moms knives and sharpened her knives that have literally never been sharpened in decades and it made them all razor sharp in minutes

Effective and Easy
Nothing will ever beat a good whetstone. The problem with whetstones, however, is that they take a lot of practice to be able to effectively use. Maintaining a proper angle is tough to do by feel. This system solves this problem, and it couldn't be easier to use.The unit is simple--it's just two parts: a magnetic angle block and a sharpening roller. Here's how they work. The angle block is cut for two angles,15 degrees and 20 degrees. Each have a silicone-padded magnet which will hold your blade in place without scratching it. The angle you need depends on the intended use of the knife: kitchen knives, fillet knives, or blades meant for fine cutting generally need the 15 degrees side of the block; outdoor knives, pocket knives, and blades which are meant for heavy-duty use generally need the 20 degrees side. Whichever side you use, the practice is the same--attach your blade cutting-side-up, make sure the edge is above the angle block, and you're ready to rock. Now comes the roller assembly. About the size of your average Yahtzee dice cup, each end has a different grit. For really dull knives or knives with an uneven edge, you'll want to use the course grit and spend time with it until your knife has a good consistent edge. No need to apply much pressure--just roll the sharpener along the edge and let the grinding pad do its thing. Once that's done, spin the sharpening roller around and polish your new edge. If your blade is only beveled on one side, that's the side you want to present to the roller's grinders. If the blade is beveled on both sides, you'll want to reverse the blade on your angle block and do them both. You're going to wind up with a very sharp knife. This unit has a very high-quality build. The rollers are smooth, and the grinding pads are consistent. Unlike using a grinding wheel, you're not going to generate enough heat to destroy the temper on your blade: your edge will hold as long as the quality of your blades will allow. The grinders are also replaceable, meaning there's no reason you won't get decades of good use out of this. Sure, it's a bit pricey--but this is an instance where you really do get what you pay for.Highly recommended!

Worth it!...
Works like a charm, very easy to use, very smooth does what is described. My knife has not been this sharp since bought and used.

Only wish I got the more expensive version!
Sexy product, only wish I made the jump to the more expensive planetary spinner to save me time. Puts on a wonderful edge, and keeps the angle like little else once you learn to keep tension on bendier blades. It's grip is a bit tricky to learn on the roller for bigger hands, but once you fall into a rythm it really doesn't require too much pressure to shave off metal.
