David Attenborough's Natural History Museum Alive [DVD]

Quite possibly the BEST 3D rendering EVER! (I give it 20 Stars)
David Attenborough is a God to me. His professionalism is unrivaled by any other person living or dead. His commitment to historical accuracy is impeccable. And though he does not consider himself an actor, none other could have delivered his dialogue in 0 degree Celsius at 20 Knots while being wing slapped by a flying Swan as "unflappably" as Sir David Attenborough. (See David Attenborough's Conquest of the Skies 3D [Blu-ray] to truly appreciate that reference.)The creatures roaming the museum are amazingly realistic. My favorite 3D moment was when the dinosaur pecked a hole into the screen and poked his head through. His face touched my toes as I watched from my recliner 10 feet from the screen. It was fantastic. There were numerous other 3D jewels in which to revel. Make sure that your 3D player will maintain the 3D effect while paused. That is the best part. To pause and peruse every detail the the various creatures that were brought to life. Bravo. Thank you Sir Attenborough for your lifetime of dedication to reveal, educate and preserve natural history. You are beloved.

First Class CGI
Sir David is justified in taking pride in how realistic the CGI effects are in taking the majestic skeletons of the Natural History Museum and making them come alive. The entire crew has created a movie of the highest quality. Although living in California, I have been fortunate to have spend much vacation time in the museums and galleries of London. Unfortunately, I never went to the Natural History Museum, but this movie has given me a very healthy taste of some of the museums highlights. As is normal for a David Attenborough film, great care has been taken to make sure that the CGI effects are in accord with today's science. I found it a joy to see Sir David the actor having fun with the story line of the movie. The movie is listed at 115 minutes, but it should be noted that 65 minutes of that total is the 3D movie and the other 50 minutes is the "making of" special.

another great 3d blu ray from david a.
david attenborough gets 3d. 3d gives us depth and natural looking reality on film. He uses this very well as we explore one of the worlds greatest museums. This is just one of the many 3d blu rays that he made and they are all great. Even the plants one. And of course David is such a good presenter that we can enjoy him talking about anything basically. His late brother also had this quality. rip. Anyways. If you want a good 3d documentary then this one should do nicely. I don't understand people thoough who slag on 3d when they see in 3d . How lame is that. SO enjoy this fine 3d blu and learn a few things too.

This Blu-ray also contains the film in 2D
This Blu-ray also contains the film in 2D, as well as the 3D. It's not made clear on this page about this, so people may be buying the DVD when they could be enjoying the sharper Blu-ray (assuming they have a Blu-ray player, of course). However, on my PS3 this disc wouldn't play properly - it started fine, then got just past the message informing me that 'for the best experience watch this film in 3D and your TV and player must be 3D enabled' (I'm paraphrasing) and my monitor went blank. On my main TV (Panasonic player) the disc played just fine.To sum up: good programme/documentary/film, the usual quality narration by Sir David, and some excellent effects.

This is a MUST
A must see. Fantastic in every way. One of the best films David has given us, and that is saying something. I bought it in 3D, and cannot wait to show my grandchildren. As someone who visited The Natural History Museum in South Kensington many times as a child, I was able to see more of the architecture of the building itself, something you do not always appreciate as a child. The whole of this DVD was presented in an informative and entertaining way, with David showing not a little acting ability !!!

Amazing 3D and educational too.
Probably the best 3D movie I have. The 3D effects are amazing. When that tiger like skeleton jumps out of the screen at you, you find yourself ducking. Not cheesy 3D, but superbly done. And the whole movie is educational and extremely interesting. I learned a lot from watching the movie. It is a MUST HAVE for anyone with a 3D system. The price is a steal and it was delivered to Canada quite quickly. It played perfectly on my North American 3D Blu-Ray player.
