Q: Does this have a battery or do you wind it?

With it being an "automatic" watch, there is no requirement for a battery. How it works is that there is a balance wheel attached to a spring (hairspring) that is spun to store energy as motion is detected through simply wearing the watch. As that energy is released, the cogs move and display the time. This means that after shelving the watch for a few days, all of the stored energy would have been released and accurate time no longer displayed (appears broken). Start the process over by simply putting it back on.
