This is a serious whistle. It has a loud yet mellifluous tone that works well as a warning device for short-range purposes. I have it on a  Specialist ID Ultimate Heavy Duty Breakaway Lanyard with Detachable Key Ring SPID-2541, Packaged and Sold Individually  and wear it around my neck when I am out and about on my mobility scooter. I wanted something that sounded different, more like a ship or steam engine whistle and this did the trick. It definitely gets attention.

This is not your customary shrill whistle. It has a deeper two-tone sound, but not as deep as a train whistle. It will definitely get attention. Some doormen use it to hail cabs. It's well built, solid metal, and will last a lifetime.

These are the best on the market. I get these for my staff here in San Francisco and they hail cabs from blocks away. Great whistle.

Not sure I received the LARGE. Unit is listed as 1.2 lbs shipping, 4.5" long. Unit received was 1oz, just under 4" long.Bought for my kid who is a whistle fanatic. Have not evaluated performance. Was expecting something SIGNIFICANTLY larger for a "Large." Cannot imagine how small the "Small" will turn out to be.Would expect the price of something like this to be around 5, not 25.

I got this for a friend who is a horse show judge and the standard items used to signal the riders is either a standard ear-splitting whistle or a deafening boat/air horn. She loves this as the sound carries well outside the arena without making herself and anyone near her momentarily deaf!

like it and my niece loves it, if you put enough force into the whistle sounds like a little train, haha.
