2010 saw Gary Moore make a return to rock music after a long period of time exploring the blues. He was writing and working on a new rock album when all was brought to a halt by his untimely death on February 6th, 2011. This concert from Montreux in July 2010 was his last performance to be filmed. The set list draws heavily on his hugely successful rock albums of the eighties, stirs in a couple of his classic blues tracks with some memorable hit singles and includes three brand new songs that would have featured on the album left sadly uncompleted on his death. Gary Moore was one of the finest and most respected guitarists the British Isles have ever produced. This concert shows just what a talent we will miss.

Great shows
I never got to see Gary live so this fills that void. It is a good performance overall, with his band being tight and Gary's guitar work shining as usual. As some mentioned, his voice isn't as strong or accurate as it was in earlier days, but in my opinion it isn't detracting of the overall performance. I like the song list: it is mainly from his rock collection and some newer songs he had recently written. The sound quality and camera work are good overall. The BEST thing on this Blu-ray is the bonus material of the 1997 Montreux performance. He is on fire for this performance. His playing and voice are amazing. The energy of the band is excellent, and Gary Husband is on drums. He is a fusion powerhouse that really carries the band along with his groove.

More MOORE is always a good thing....well sort of...
I must agree with the other reviewer that challenged Gary's voice on this performance. But in my humble opinion his voice was bad because his health was obviously , obviously bad. Goodness... I love this artist, and I can't believe his friends, loved ones, and management let him put on such an enormous amount of weight around his mid section without getting him to a doctor? His heart attack is no shock given these images and they frankly make it very hard for me to enjoy this DVD with the near future heart attack in the back of my mind. Sure I love his playing...like the return to some less frequently recorded repertoire and LOVE the new songs....and anytime Gary Moore is playing a Les Paul and I can watch I'm a happy boy. The bonus footage from 1997 shows how dramatically his weight had ballooned and even in the superlative concert Blu Ray for Phil Lynott Gary Moore & Friends: One Night in Dublin - A Tribute to Phil Lynott [Blu-ray ] Gary was showing an expanding waist line and really sweating up a storm!Due to the great playing and the low price I have to keep this a five star rating even though its with a heavy heart that I watch it. Any fan of Gary's will want this....but be warned...its a mixed blessing for such an amazing artist to be shown in this state in all its Hi Definition glory.RIP Gary Moore...a true guitar hero, terrific songwriter and musicians musician.

The master of the tone!
I love Gary Moore, and I was very sad when he passed being still on his prime. I was also very lucky to see him live with jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, and I was amazed at what he could do with the instrument. Therefore, I set myself on a quest to see everything he recorded on video, and to own every piece of music he put out. This video is most likely for true fans, because you get to see the late Moore at Montreux in 2010, and some extras of a previous show at the same venue. It is very hard to tell the difference between the two in terms of playing quality. His tone was beyond this world, and his singing was very particular and touching. I give this film 4 stars without hesitation, but I warn casual viewers and not loyal fans to Moore that this may not be your cup of tea. There are other videos of him that are considered better, at least for starters.

Guitar perfection.
Guitar perfection. This was Gary's last filmed appearance before his untimely death in 2011. This DVD shows how great a guitarist Moore was. His playing here is nothing but stupendous. The band is tight and capable. I agree with some other reviewers that the vocals are a bit lackluster but the guitar makes up for it easily. The video was shot with Gary in mind, lots of close-ups of his playing. Thanks to the director and cameramen for that. All electric guitar except for the beautiful "Johnny Boy", a nice interlude.Returning home from a party celebrating my Green Bay Packers win in the Super Bowl, I logged onto my computer to Amazon.com and went to the Customer Forums (remember them?). I saw the entry of a person saying RIP Gary Moore. I was devastated. Going from a huge high to an extreme low was a terrible thing. At least we have his albums and videos to remember him by. RIP Gary, love ya man. One of the absolute greats, a true guitar-god.

Setting The Record Straight!!
As a life long fan of Gary Moore, Let me say Live at Montreux 2010 is one of Gary's finest performances. His Playing, his voice, and the tightness of the band is spot on.The proof is in the pudding, watch and listen to the audience you can see it in their faces and hear it in their voices.I have read some of the other reviews and I was appalled that some would fault Mr. Moore for getting old!Talking about the weight gain and voice not as good.Let me say getting old is part of life and some of our bodies handle it differently. Some loose all their hair, some put on wait in our middles, some our voices change. Shall I go on?On that note I have been a fan from the beginning Skid Row and followed Gary through the years. I have all his music, and I love it.Seeing him in one of his last performances, I consider it a very special moment in his life.on a scale of 1 to 10 I give this concert a 20!!After watching I did not run and get a older concert to watch I put it back in and watched a second time. This is on my list of all time favorites.Mickey Cooksey

Not bad, a little disappointing
The video and audio are very good. The song selection is very good. The guitar playing is stellar. The band is very good. Sadly the vocals let this down. Gary songs his parts ok, but he has lost his high end. The keyboard player tries to cover this top end and fails. This is probably a 3.5 star show for me, but I am a big Moore fan so I leaned high. I know based on some other reviews that I may cop some flack for my opinion on the vocals, but I can only call it how I see it.Hopefully down the road a concert that reflects how good Gary Moore was in his prime will be released. Sadly this won't get many viewings.

Not the best of tributes
I'm fairly sure this wouldn't have surfaced had Gary not died. This performance can best be described as "raw". The guitar playing and sound are awesome as ever, but the mix is a little too dry and in your face...a tad too "warts and all" for my liking. It was great to see Gary begin to throw in some shred again in his last couple of years, having restrained himself the previous 15 or so, and I was excited as a very excited person to hear that he was planning on recording a new Celtic Rock album, (always my favourite era), but the vocals are "strained" at best, awful at worst, with both Gary and Neil Carter failing to hit the high/right notes on many an occasion. Gary had also piled on the pounds, (which may well have contributed to his untimely death from a heart attack), and this gives his performance a kind of lethargy not suited to the rock material on show here. There's an element of "going through the motions", despite Gary alluding to being "re-energised". Compare this with his performance of these songs on his 1987 "live In Stockolm" VHS, (soon to be released on DVD/Blu Ray please please please!), and it's quite sad to see how cruel the passing of time can be. That said, his performance of Parissean is right up there with some of his very best, and the new songs are excellent. It's with eternal regret that we'll never get to hear these, or any other songs recorded by Gary. Maybe I'm being a tad too critical. After all, he was approaching 60, and obviously couldn't charge about like in the golden 80's. He will always remain my ultimate guitar hero... a master of touch, tone, phrasing, melody and fire, but I reckon a more fitting tribute will come with the afformentioned re-issue of the Swedish concert, or the "White Knuckles and Blue Moods" documentary that was in production at the time of his death, (hopefully updated with lots of extra stuff in light of his passing). This will do nicely until then.

Nothing less than brilliant
Is this a DVD showing nothing but Gary Moore's very finest performances? Probably not, though there are excellent examples of Gary at his best.Is it a DVD you can do without? Definately not.No single DVD can capture everything that's great about a wonderful performer, and this is no exception, but this recording of what transpired to be his very last appearance at Montreaux (and his last DVD / Blu-ray) is one of very few good quality DVDs bringing Gary to our screens and loudspeakers at the point in his career when his relaxed skill was at its peak.Yes, had he lived longer he may have produced one even greater performance and the DVD / Blu-ray quality been even better, or maybe not, but this remarkable performance ( plus bonus tracks from much earlier Montreaux appearances ) is one that will feature in your personal collection for a long time to come. Just a glimpse of the audience's reaction during "Parisienne Walkways" confirms that you are listening to one of the greatest rock guitarists this world has ever known and will ever know, playing at his best.Very highly recommended.

Greatest Blues Player
Gary's final Montreux showing in 2010 leaves a legacy of great guitar work the world may not see again. Best highlights of the DVD are " Thunder Rising" and the under rated " Still Got the Blues".This is the harder rock side of Gary's formidable back catelogue. The world of blues music will resonate for a long long time with the passing of its prodigal son.

Not the finest Gary Moore live footage ever
Not the finest Gary Moore live footage ever, but well worth checking out nevertheless. After years performing blues, for me at least, it's nice to see Moore returning more to his hard rock sound of the 80s before his sad and untimely passing..
