YP-LR360-PRO Lightning Rod - Powered 360 Degree Safety Light and Safety Flag with Improved Threaded Power connectors

This is the first time I have felt the need to write a review. I love the concept of this light for my kayak and love the rest of the yak power ecosystem. This light however is the most inconsistent product. It worked fine out of the box. After a couple uses the connecters became so temperamental. I was out of the return window by the time I actually started to use it so I have done my own repairs to try to keep limping it along until I find a suitable replacement. he connectors had adhesive over them I scraped off with a razor blade, I think that helped with connectivity some. I also had to re-glue the screw joints together. Basically I get the the lake and mount it to my kayak, if it turns on I know I can fish however long I want, if not I need to be back to the car before dark. A $100 light shouldn't decide how long I can fish that day.Unfortunately I already made holes in my kayak to fit this mount. Light will not turn on with rods attached. You have to thread the light to the base so tight so that it makes connection that it is almost impossible to remove without damaging the light bulb. Poorly engineered.

I love this brand, I have multiple different items from this company and I’ve enjoyed nearly every one. I bought this directly from yakpower’s website but I wanted to leave my thoughts here. I love most of yakpower’s products, especially the led strips. But this one is a huge miss.First, this thing is flimsy and not very well built. It’s a thin material that they use for the shaft. Second, the connections are just not good, the threaded connectors help with it staying secure sure but unfortunately it hurts more then helps it. Once you fully secure it the ports get stuck. When you try to remove it you’ll actually take out the wiring and internals of the unit. Which is what the picture shows, I took liquid tape to hold it together. Really cheaply made.I contacted yakpowers customer service about this, they thankfully sent me a new version of the picture. It worked at home but after one fishing trip, no rain, the unit is completely unresponsive. I have to hit it with my net to get it working for a short while.I’m going to reach out to them again for hopefully a resolution. Very disappointed with this and the fact that 100 dollars of my money went to this.UPDATE:YakPower agreed to send me an entirely new unit. After I received the new unit, lo and behold, the new one didn’t work either. I checked all my wiring and connections and everything is working as it should. But a brand new product straight out of the box was unusable again.So yeah, something is seriously wrong with this product. Thankfully YakPower has great customer service and agreed to refund my money even after I was outside of their return window. They said they would forward my experience to their design team. But I cannot in good conscience recommend this product. It needs to be reevaluated by yakpowers team.
