Stages Learning Materials Language Builder Uplay Mat and Flashcard Set for Preschool, Autism, ABA and Speech Therapy Early Learning Flashcards

I used the Stages Learning Materials Language Builder play mat and flash cards while co-treating with the Speech Therapist. We both liked the interactive way you could work with the child....not the usual desk and chair set up. The Mat affords opportunity for movement...and movement fuels the brain. There are 50 animal cards and 50 food cards/ 25 a piece of matching pairs. The pictures are visually appealing...making it easier for children who have difficulty attending and sitting to participate for longer periods of time. The see through pockets made it easy for my preschoolers to match and place the card in the corresponding pocket. They also liked the fact that they had something interesting to do with their hands...not the usual "point to the match" which gets old quickly. The fun facts, on the opposite side of the picture, were also appropriate for my kindergartners first/second graders....I used the facts for a simple copying activity.... Highly recommended.

This is a great product for working with toddlers and preschoolers. The pictures that come with it aren't vibrant, but the mat is worth the price. I've seen similar products at twice the price.

This is a nice complete educational set. It comes with a substantial booklet that guides the teacher or parent who uses this system. The mat is well constructed. The pictures are probably are five inches square. Each pictures has facts on the back about the picture's subject. This has all sorts of possibilities and food and animals are the best topics for kids. For these are two areas of interest for many children. This could be used with very young children but also older children for the pictures are not babyish whatsoever.

Massively overpriced. The cards are fine but so are the ones I got from the discount store. It is nice to have the mat and I do like the U shape, but again, this is just too expensive. I think it'd be great for 1/4 or even 1/5 the price.

I am a speech pathologist and got this for use with my preschool kids. It's okay but not perfect. The construction quality of the mat is good, but the picture cards it comes with are very flimsy. I do, however, appreciate that there are 2 of each picture card for matching. The mat arrived folded up and won't lie flat on the floor because of the folds and creases from shipping. The pockets are a good size and it's nice to be able to change out the pictures. The mat has worked well for floor time but is not at all useful for work at a table or desk - it's just too big and bulky. Though I like the mat okay, the current price of $50 seems too high. Overall a good idea that works reasonably well but has some things that could be improved.

This is very educational and comes with a manual on the history and how to use it at various stages of abilities. There is a dummy card and you put in a sleeve another card, either food or animal. You give the child the matching card and he is supposed to match it. That's at it's simplest. Then you put cards at various places so the child must look around to see where the match is. You can teach same and different, have them say the animal's name, put the same in a stack over the sleeve for mammals or food, etc. I got this for my 4 year old, but I think this is better suited for the 2 year old. However, putting the cards in the sleeve is a little tricky for a child. They slide in easily for me.

my nephew seemed to learn a bit from this and it humored him.. I'm waiting for him to get bored but he has not yet.

The product is great came in good condition and perfect for my needs the only issue is the cards are a bit flimsy and I had to laminate them to they would not tear when children are handling them and make them easier to wipe clean also.
