Q: Does the 2.5 gallon humidifier fill from the top or do I have to remove the tanks?

It fills from the bottom. You have to remove the tanks. It has two tanks each one hold about a gallon.

Q: How long do the ceramic filters last?

These ceramic filters last a long time. I have had mine 3 years. The other demineralization filters only last 3 months. I wash the ceramic filters in a mild soap before storing it away. Use distilled water. Using that water will leave no white dust on you furniture.

Q: Does this fill from the bottom or top?

It depends on which model you have. I have three (3) 2.15 gal. humidifiers. Two fill from the top, but do not have a remote, the third fills by lifting out the containers and this one has a remote. You need to find out the model number and contact Air Innovations. They will tell you which one fills from the top. My dual tank one fills from the bottom. The single tank ones fill from the top.

Q: Does this pump out more humidity than smaller one or is the reservoir tank just bigger ?

Yes, it does and in a better way/form than any humidifier I've ever owned, and I have owned several. This humidifier is all digital settings that allows you to decide how much mist you want the machine to put into the air of your room. But, you also have two different choices about the way it is delivered. It has a very short nozzle that allows the mist to come right out the top of the tank or you can attach a long nozzle like what's showing in the picture, and that allows the machine to throw the mist out over a wider range. The range of humidity settings on this machine is very liberal, you can actually set this machine to go as high as 90-95% humidity which is more than most. That is one of the things I like about this machine, and another is it throws out a pretty heavy mist when set for high humidity and highest mist range.... but it does not wet the ceiling or wall nor the furniture it sits on. This machine has not caused a white residue on the surrounding around it like many other room humidifiers have in the past. This has been a very good one room humidifier and that's what it's intended for. No one should buy a humidifier this size and expect it to supply more than one room.
