I didn't realize that the plastic thing attached to the inside bottom of the basket was a weight. I cut it away, and then understood my error. The basket may float when installed in the skimmer, if the pump is not on. After reattaching the weight, the basket gently sinks to the bottom of the skimmer. So far the basket seems pretty sturdy, but these baskets get attacked by the chlorine and usually become brittle and fail after a few years.

The product fits perfect in my pool. The weight at bottom is perfect. Helps keep basket down in the water

As other reviewers have mentioned, the handle popped right out of its socket the 2nd or 3rd time I went to remove the basket from the skimmer. (There was little debris in the basket and I lifted it gently.)The weight on the bottom is also not enough to hold the basket down in the skimmer when the pump isn't running.I spent the extra $7 and received a basket from the OEM today. What a difference. Believe me, it's worth spending the extra $7!

Great little skimmer basket for the price with a weighted bottom .Seems to be sturdy enough and the only issue is the handle to lift it should be stronger and not pop off so easily !

It works great, just brought my 2nd one. Only because I was careless and snapped the handle.

The basket is a bit weak but works. The handle however, is another story. Every time I try to pull it out of the skimmer, (with the pump off) the handle comes off. It only has two plastic pins that don't stay in the basket because the handle bends too much causing the plastic pins to pull out. The bottom line is it is cheap.. but it is made cheaply.

Like the handle on these basketsLast about 2 seasons at least only had to replace one out of two last season
