This exceeded my expectations, especially for such an economical unit. I tested with grill cheese sandwiches so I could see what was getting hot and how even it was. Heat drops off sharply outside the coil which is expected for an induction burner. What was surprising was how large the coil was at this price point, and how evenly it heated. Heating coil is large enough to completely cover one grill cheese sandwich and evenly toast all the way to the corners.It heated up the skillet very quickly, even P4 was too high for grill cheese in a cast iron grill. I have always preferred gas over electric ranges, but this induction burner may make a convert out of me. I can hear the fans and a slight hum while cooking, but this was expected.

This item works pretty well with cast iron, however, with light pots, even full of water the pot will walk and dance over the surface. I was boiling water and the stainless pot I was using was 1/2" from going over the side from floating all over the place. I centered the pot again, and a few seconds later, it was ready to go over the edge again. Cast iron has enough weight to it that it stays put.

One day it simply stopped working. Owned for 5 months, tried to boil water in my kettle one morning and heard a POP, and the unit died. Some sort of a breaker (internal and not user serviceable) seemed to have tripped. It didn't last. One star.

The induction heats up really fast! But some things to note, it doesn't work on every single pan/pots, it's quite loud - so plug it out right after using. Also, I returned mine because within 1.5 months it just shows E8 and because it's still under warranty, Amazon managed to help me process a refund but I bought it again because well, the induction is good, I should give it another try?

This thing is great. No setup at all. Just plug it in and hit max heat, you'll be boiling water faster than you thought possible.

Gets very hot. Worth the price
