When it comes to men’s hair products, it can often feel like a hit and miss situation where getting the perfect hold, texture and even scent can feel like mission impossible. Finally, it seems that I have finally found a men’s clay pomade that ticks all of the boxes. At first, £16 may seem like quite a premium to pay for a small tub, though that’s exactly what you are paying for. I have medium length hair and only a pea size is sufficient to cover the entirety of my hair whilst providing a firm hold throughout the day.This Matt clay by ‘Apothecary’ allows you to have the freedom to style your hair with freedom both upon application and throughout the day. Hence, you have the ability to make a quick fix incase your hair style undesirably changes during your day at work/school or even during a special occasion. I found that the odour was quite similar to a classic men’s aftershave scent though it wasn’t overpowering with an artificial fragrance. Rather, it’s subtle and gradually fades throughout the day. It is pleasant and has for sure got me some compliments in just over a week that I have been using this product. Not to mention, it hasn’t damaged my hair (or scalp) and was super easy to wash out of the hair using a little shampoo. A truly high quality clay pomade that’s worth giving a go if you’re looking for one (you can’t really go wrong).Thank you for reading my honest review, I hope you found it helpful! :)

For £16 I’d expect a completely natural and healthy alternative to the ‘norm’ however this was not the case.On Yuka this product is rated at 0/100. Pretty terrible considering it contains a carcinogenic ingredient! Considering it’s going on your head and can be absorbed through your skin!It does hold the hair up but at what cost? This clay pomade is firm out of the jar and warms up easily when rubbed between your hands making it easy to spread evenly through your hair. It has a slight, pleasent fragrance that is not overpowering and was not noticeable for long after applying into my hair (less than an hour).I have straight hair that is about an inch or two long on top. The medium hold easily lasts a working day and my hair did not become fluffly as it has done with other brands. The product is advertised as a natural finish but I would say it is on the wetter end of a natural look and isn't what I was expected.At £16 for 50ml this certianly is not a cheap hair product. Not much is needed but even so for the product it seems overpriced to me for what you get.

The hair clay is inside a brown small glass jar with a screw top, it has the Apothecary sticker wrapped around with information on how best to apply the clay, on the underside is the list of ingredients and no nasties jump out at me so that is a step in the right direction.The jar is small and contains 50ml, a small thumbnail amount goes a long way so the jar should last 2 months of daily use, I have 1"-2" hair length on average on the top of my head then I have a No1 short back/sides.I fully dry my hair using a hairdryer after a shower and use a pair of straighteners on the top and my fringe to add the lift (I cringe at the thought of using them but it gives me the best results).The clay pomade spreads through my thick hair easily and offers a medium to low hold throughout the day, I would say it does not add much volume or texture and it's a low sheen, the clay does dissolve fairly easy in my hair.Main ingredients are Bees Wax, Kaolin Clay, Petroleum and fragrance, the fragrance is of vanilla and mango.Overall, it's a decent clay hybrid that performs fairly well, a bit costly when compared to other alternatives that are priced the same, it won’t be replacing my favourite go to clay though, thank you.

Right, so let me start by saying that I know nothing about the company which makes this clay. I just ordered it blindly, but boy, this turned out to be an amazing product!Just like others have said - the scent is just fabulous. Very, very pleasant, subtle yet lingering on your fingertips and hair - my girlfriend keeps asking me what's this lovely smell and I tell her it's my hair styling product :) She couldn't believe it :)But where this clay really excels, is the amazing ease-of-use, texture and hold. Most clays I've used were either too dry and therefore difficult to use, or they didn't have enough hold or were too sticky / made my hair look terrible. This clay is nothing like that. It's ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. Once warmed up between my fingers, it's very easy to put on the hair and it has just about right amount of hold - doesn't make my hair too stiff but it also makes it stay in place. And ABOVE ALL, it's not greasy or sticky, it's as if it wasn't even there. My clothes are finally clean, no sticky residue, my hair looks and SMELLS fabulous and I honestly am super excited about this product - made my daily routine that little easier.GO BUY IT, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! EXCELLENT PRODUCT!
