VIP RIPOFF-Buy the standard version
I bought this on a preorder.Since i dont have a xb1x yet,im waiting to play. After reading the forums and reviews,Turn10 decided to make the VIP consumable which means you can use VIP 25 times then its gone.In past games VIP meant mostly credits bonuses but stayed with you forever.Nowhere in the preleases of this game was this stated. If only they had said upfront this will be different i could live with it.Maybe this will change since the game just came out.But over on Forza main site in the forums longtime supporters are steamed.Im giving the 1 star on the VIP that you are paying more for than the standard game.Which has no long term value.I have 30 days to return mine unopened copy.Just thought people should know what your NOT GETTING when buying the Ultimate Edition. We shall see in time if this or any of the major problems are fixed.Turn 10 after much complaining reverted back to the old style VIP,gifted 4 cars and gave vips 1 million credits.Im now giving it a four.Still some gameplay issues but as far as the value of the ulitmate edition its works..Glad to see change back to the gamers favor instead of nickeling and diming us to death with little value.

This game is a money grab so save your money and not buy it
As someone else mentioned, the VIP bonus isn't really a bonus anymore. You can use it 25 times to double your base income. This follows a few of their other changes, which can only be named as a money grab. Firstly, the cars are pricier than they were in Forza 6, secondly, they are going to charge for their "loot crates", which admittedly, you can buy with in game credits.Though, in those crates are varying levels of goods from "Common" to "Legendary", with the more expensive the crate increasing your odds of getting something "Legendary", which may be a race suit, or may be a car, which again, with cars being more expensive and the VIP perk going away makes this look more like a money grab. With this same thing, you're thinking "OK, I'll buy the cars I want with in-game credits", which you can't, at least not right off the bat. You have to work your way up to certain tiers to be able to purchase these cars, and you do need some of these cars for certain races. You can get some of these cars through leveling up and get some points to go up the tiers that way, but they're not as much as if you purchased the cars yourself. That's right, in order to purchase the higher tiered cars you have to spend your credits to get up to that level first. Then, in order to make it so that you have quite a bit more of a challenge when you change the difficulty, to, you know, get more in game credits, they plain out cheat. In the photos that I've attached, though they are from the PC version, show this in the telemetry data. The yellow car, which is the AI, makes 2082 kW while the white car produces 418.Keeping in the same vein, if you use ANY form of assist while driving, prepare for it to not work as well as it did in Forza 6. I, for the life of me, could not win on a higher difficulty (though not as high as the one with the 5 times as much power setting) with traction control on. When I turned it off I was finishing the races 2 or 3 seconds a lap faster than the next fastest car. It is incredibly aggressive in limiting tire slippage and slows you down immensely. The stability control? Yeah, that doesn't work either. So yeah, plain, flat out money grab. They make it more difficult to get credits, that you need for literally everything, so you can buy their "loot crates".The recommendation algorithm really, REALLY, sucks. I purchased a car that it recommended and it was literally the complete opposite of my driving style and type of car that I would normally use.The AI, while not as aggressive, are kind of an untouchable brick; if they touch you, you deal with the effects, if you touch them, you deal with the effects. And at some speeds, some types of vehicles, and some weather conditions, that can mean the difference between 1st and 24th place. On the upside? Maple Valley is back! New cars, and Forza Edition cars that give you some extra in game credits. The weather and time change effects are a welcome change, as is the not spinning out when you happen to clip a puddle. If I would have known it'd be an updated version of Forza 5 I wouldn't have purchased it; I would have stuck with 6 and paid for the DLC.UPDATES:They've indeed fixed the VIP complaints regarding the double base payout.Just this past update on 11/3, they released their "Xbox One X update" (yes, that's the real name for it) which enabled #Forzathon, the auction house (I think), and more multiplayer race modes. I'm going to leave that be since I didn't originally review it on those, but some people may see an issue with those features being pushed/released just a couple days before the Xbox One X release. They also worked something..I'm not sure what..with the AI. They're not quite an unmovable brick, though it does take some work to move them. They are slightly more aggressive, and just a little more inclined to stay on the track and pass you back than before.Lastly, an update in my original review with the cars being pricier. It's because they go through a homogenization where every single car that you buy/get has the same upgrades in the interest of making the multiplayer races more equal for all players. The result I have no problem with, the way that they get there is where my issue lies. What essentially happens is you pay for the upgrades that they determine you need to fit the series tire size, tire type, and horsepower. If you don't like it you have to spend more credits to change things around to your liking. Personally, I'm a fan of less power and better grip/control, so I don't need all the engine upgrades and could use it somewhere else, like upgraded transmissions so I can change the gearing, or brakes, so I can adjust the balance and pressure amounts. But, I've already paid for those upgrades that I'm not using. All told, if Amazon did half stars I'd be giving this a 2.5, but since they don't, a 3 it is.Tangentially, this whole thing has left so thoroughly a sour taste in my mouth regarding Microsoft that I'm not going to preorder any of their games, which I think says something since they're a huge publisher and they own some of the companies that develop the games. They completely blew any goodwill and trust I had that they wouldn't try to be so blatantly anti-consumer. Prior to this game coming out I had an Xbox One X preodered to keep at my house and I was going to bring my current Xbox One to my cottage so I wouldn't have to lug it around to play this game; I have since cancelled that preorder.

This is less of a Race Simulator, and more of an Arcade Racing Game
I have an XboX ONE and i have been playing both Forza Horizon 2 as well as Forza 6...I WILL COMPARE FORZA 7 TO FORZA 6 to give you an idea of what to expectI didn't expect much of an improvement in Graphics since i have the XboX ONE and not the ONE S or ONE X, but with surprise i found out that the Graphics quality has been somewhat downgraded:while the Racetrack surroundings have been improved giving a nicer general view that make me easily recognize Tracks i have been in real life but never played in, the actual Car details have been degraded compared to Forza 6, particularly Reflections and Shadows on the Cars are less detailed and in general, as you drive the Car it kinda looks Flat, it's almost as if the Cars are a bit cartoonish for the lack of color dept... in comparison the Cars looked almost real in Forza 6.The Driving Dynamic has changed quite a lot as well... it doesn't feel anymore like a true Simulator, FORZA 7 has a bit of an Arcade feel to it, the Cars seem more rigid on the screen and don't react as naturally as on Forza 6 when you hit a bump or someone.BEWARE: do not enable the "Simulation Steering" option unless you have an actual "Steering Wheel Controller" because it becomes completely impossible to control a Slide when you are in Simulation with just the Standard Controller and always end up crashing. The good side of FORZA 7 is that they brought back some iconic racetracks like Mugello, which was really missing on Forza 6, but on the contrary, the famous 700 Cars of Forza 7 lack some of the currently in production iconic sports Cars, like the 2016 " ALFA ROMEO Giulia Quadrifoglio ", powered by a Ferrari V6 engine, the GIULIA is currently ranked to be the fastest Sport Sedan in the World, altho i do expect it to come up in future updates together with her SUV Counterpart, the " ALFA ROMEO Stelvio Quadrifoglio " which has just been awarded the prize for Fastest SUV in the World, but it is also missing other important cars that were present of Forza 6, like the Toyota Supra or the Bugatti Veyron... i do expect the Chiron in any update, but i am sure that, along with the other cars i just named, they will charge users that don't have the Ultimate edition, and that is not cool because these are basic iconic Cars that are supposed to be available in any good Racing Cars Game.all the Hype about the Dynamic Weather Change is kinda pointless... yes the Rain Comes down after you started racing in the Dry, but the Car handles almost the same... apparently Forza changes the Tires for you on the fly: i think a Pit stop would have been more appropriate. Also the Rain Driving is kinda silly... on Forza 6 you had to be careful of the puddles, if you hit one you had to compensate for the Hydroplaning, but on FORZA 7 it simply does a lot of nice splashing water around it, but nothing happens to the Car's handling... kinda unreal. Also, i do not like how you're forced to Buy cars you don't want, or how in some Races you're not given the choice of the Car to drive, you're simply given a Car, and you fight against other cars that often include the one you actually wanted for that Race...UPDATE: so while at the beginning it was possible to Sell the Cars for about half the original Price and at least salvage some Money you were forced to waste, now with the update they did you're forced to give up the cars as you can't sell em, and if you refuse to buy the Cars, you will never get access to the Cars you like because they force you to Collect what they want, which is basically turning into a FORD promotion.Too many limitations... on Forza 6 you decided how to spend your Money, in this one, cars might not be as expensive, but you don't get to choose em, and furthermore, the AFFINITY prize is completely gone... it was one of my favorite things on the previous Forza's, and i kinda didn't like in Forza 6 the Affinity was just a one time cash prize... now they got rid of it.THE LAST ISSUE: On top of everything there is the Upgrades disappointment...: in Forza 6 i used to spend hours to fine tune a Car, by using the Test Drive option and Test the adjustments done to the Cars... now it seems pointless, as all Cars in the Championship have to be practically stock, so there is no much push to learn how to adjust properly tire pressure, Suspension Dampening, Aerodynamics etc...Don't take me wrong, i like this game, but i had expectations for an actual Full Blown Simulator, and this is really not one
