Looks good, effective deterrent
Easy to fill the wide opening at the base with gravel and reinsert the plug, so the owl is very stable. It’s very nice looking and it is effective at deterring birds from nesting or perching on the window ledge. Handsome, well made, and well designed.

They really work! no more poop on our dock or by the pool. Make sure to secure them
No more birds around us, although I suspect that some of the smarter species have figured out the fraudulent natrue of these owls. The stupid birds wont figure it out and those seem to be what we primarily have around in Connecticut. MAKE SURE TO SECURE IT: they will blow away and break in some pretty minor wind.

Not exactly what I hoped for.........
This little guy is very cute and pretty realistic looking. I had hoped it would help deter a flock of peacocks from visiting my deck and hanging out on the deck railing. I placed the owl on the railing and hoped for the best. Unfortunately, the birds were not frightened off, but rather they must have thought in their tiny bird brains, that they had found a new friend. They love to fly up and sit next to it. Guess it is too cute for them to resist. I surmise that the owl could possibly be more frightening to a rabbit or maybe a squirrel. I plan to just keep him around in the garden anyway, simply because of his cuteness. Besides I wouldn't want to stand in the way of my peacocks friendship with their new deck buddy.

WORKS GREAT
Bought this to keep birds out of my garden. Comes with a hole in the bottom already that fit perfectly over a Tpost. I haven't had any issues with birds or rodents getting in my garden since I put it up.

Doesn't scare away the critters
It makes for a cute yard decoration but the critters are not at all scared by it. Once the curiosity wears off and they realize it won't move, they ignore it. It's hollow plastic, so you'll have to weigh or anchor it down to keep the wind from knocking it over. It has a covered opening at the bottom which you can uncap to put in rocks, water, dirt, etc. to weigh it down. My mother tied hers to the trunk of the persimmon tree so it looks like she's holding a fake owl hostage and the squirrels still scamper up the tree.

Not effective on squirrels and birds
I got a big leafy tree in my backyard that is infested by birds. No idea what kind but it seems like they eat a lot as my patio below the tree is totally covered with droppings. I put the owl directly facing where they hide out at 10ft distance on my balcony. No difference at all. It actually has gotten worse over time but I don't blame the owl for that. The squirrels running on the fence next to the tree seems to thrive as well. It was worth a try.

It works
Worked immediately. Had pesky birds continuously try to build a nest on my front porch. The minute I took this out of the box and put it in place, I have not seen a single twig or bird disturbing our porch. Recommend!

So Far, So Good
It is a little smaller than a regular owl but "duh" bird has not been seen since I attached it to the railing of our deck facing the woods. For years I had bird netting over the windows of the breakfast nook so that the stupid robin would not be able to do disgusting things on its image in the glass. After having some work done I replaced the netting with spinner rods. Those were pretty but they only worked for about a week. So far the robin has not dared to perch on the railing by the owl. I attached the owl with a long wood screw through the base of its tail into the railing.Update: After a number of weeks the bird is back, ignoring both the owl and the spinner rods. I have now stapled a sticky yellow card to the railing and after a few days the bird is once again not being seen. It probably does not like getting the sticky stuff stuck to its feet.
