SACOMix Buttermilk Pwdr Can

I am not a fan of buttermilk as a beverage but love to cook with it. Unfortunately, I don't use it often enough to make buying buttermilk worthwhile. Generally I would either not have it on hand when I needed it or buy too much (or too early) and have it go bad on me. I had routinely used the buttermilk substitute recipes (vinegar or lemon juice added to regular milk), but my baked goods never quite turned out right.Enter Saco Powdered Buttermilk. It is super easy to use and my baked goods turn out just as good using powdered buttermilk as they ever did using the liquid kind. Now I keep one can in the fridge and have at least one in the pantry at all times. I highly recommend this and am so happy I found it!

I dont keep buttermilk on hand so this is great. Great expiration date

We are big fans of cooking with buttermilk and probably add buttermilk to pancakes, waffles, and other foods about every other week. This dry buttermilk is easy to measure and use, except it does take some extra whisking to get all the dry buttermilk mixed into the batter. This is a very good value and lasts a long time.

I've used this product for a couple of decades. Having this on hand means I can prepare buttermilk recipes without wasting the rest of the carton of fresh buttermilk. I have learned to adapt all of my recipes that call for regular milk to buttermilk to give the recipe that extra flavor only provided by buttermilk.The quality of Saco buttermilk is vastly superior to other brands I have tried (only when I could not get the Saco brand). I have now learned not to substitute another brand but to avoid buttermilk recipes until I can get another carton of his wonderful product.

Amazon cannot ship this product correctly. The product is packaged in a lightweight poster board cup with a plastic lid. It reminds me of an oatmeal box or bread crumb box. This "box" was in loose plastic wrap, two together next to each other and taped. It was placed in a much larger cardboard "Amazon" box with those "air bags". The product must have bounced around a lot to break open the plastic wrap and tape. The outside box had crushed corners as well. When I opened the box, fine flour was all over the place - "poof!!" all over my counter! The flour was emptied from the little boxes into the larger box! The plastic lids did not hold. Who would think it could? The person packing these could have made better choices or thought about the shipping environment and packed it better. Silly person. Mr manufacturer: Did you really think this carton could ship by Amazon? It's not all their fault you know.

I posted about this in the seller review but no response. So, thought I would put it here. I gave it a couple weeks, thinking maybe the 2nd pac would arrive separately.Still a good product but would suggest you just buy one instead of a two pac.

If you don't keep regular buttermilk on hand (or it goes bad before you can use it) - this buttermilk powder is the answer. Store it in the refrigerator after opening. It keeps many months. Just add 1 tablespoon of powder per 1/4 cup of water to your recipe (so for 1 cup of buttermilk, use 4 tablespoons of buttermilk powder and 1 cup of water.) Works great, just like fresh buttermilk in your baked goods (muffins, biscuits, pancakes, bread, etc.)

I make sure to never be without this product as a kitchen staple. It us so easy to use. I just mix the amount of powder I need per the instructions in with the powder part of the recipe and add the liquid water part to the liquid part if my recipe. Works fab, taste gr eat. Occasionally I will use the real buttermilk but not often. I tend to bake spontaneously and got those times I don't have buttermilk on hand it's good to know I "always" have this on hand.
