I bought this soldering helping hand with magnifier for my husband, and it has helped him a lot. Thanks to the magnifier, he can work on very small, high-precision pieces without straining his eyes. The stand is stable and allows him to keep his hands free while soldering, which improves the quality and accuracy of his work. Definitely a great tool for any solderer who needs to work on fine details.

I've already used it several times to repair the clasps on two broken necklaces. The alligator clips on the articulating arms work well, and hold the ends of the necklaces securely in place, freeing up my hands to do the actual repairs, taking off old lobster claw clasps and putting on new ones. The base is solid metal and heavy. I do wish the magnifying loop could be adjusted just a little higher, but other than that, it works great and is quite sturdy. I am quite pleased with this item.

This works decently well for holding small things like wire and components for soldering. However, it definitely could use some more heft in the base to keep things from walking around. I ended up taking a small block of scrap aluminum and machining it to overcome this problem. I also added some stick-on rubber feet. These modifications transformed it from "meh" into a bench item that I use reasonably often. I can't comment on the magnifying glass, as I have a bench magnifier that I use instead.

I see several reviews here that seem to be about other products....People removing batteries, talking about clips and such. This product is excellent, it's quick and powerful. Some people are not happy with the stand but I don't see the problem. Truth be told....when i am using it, I just lay it down on its side. Go for it!

It does its job, but only if you find a way to way it down. They arms and glass work great and can move into any position I need, but that doesn't help a lot when the base is so light.

Bought for use with my soldering wires. Magnification is good and clips for holding "whatever" is so handy. Sharing with my wife who does frequent sowing. This devise will be great for helping her to thread needles. Holping to have access to it for when it will help me with soldering! Great product at a nice price. This product exceeded my expectations. Judging from the low price and some of the negative reviews, I was expecting a poorly built, low quality product. I figured that it was worth taking a look at it and if I didn't like the product I would return it. But mine looked great coming out of the box. There were no quality issues and it appears to be fairly sturdy and well designed.I think any problems I will have using this for my soldering project will be more related to my skill level rather than the utility of this product.
