Q: Strap inside to hold bag in place?

No straps inside, but straps outside to do the same thing.

Q: How well does it work?

I have used it many times. The bag is made of a thick soft sponge, that protects the club perfectly.

Q: how to use support rod

Adjust the length and insert it in the same place as the diver. Just like your driver goes into an umbrella...and use bubbles to protect your drivers and woods.

Q: Are there instructions on how to fold the bag for storage?

I did not see any with my bag, but I kept the original box it came in and was able to fold it back up into it just fine. Lay the bag out flat and completely unzipped. Start from the top of the bag and fold towards the bottom. When you get close to the bottom, tuck the top potion in.
