KidKraft Wooden Step 'N Store Stool with Handles and Hidden Storage - Espresso, Gift for Ages 3-8

This is a very pretty stool and the area that opens is a good fit for my husbands magazines. I bought it for my daughter to access the toilet and sink, with the intention of the lower step to be for the toilet. Unfortunately the lower step is not deep enough for my 3 1/2 year old daughter's foot to fit on and the top step is too tall for her to use the toilet with ease. So the functionablity that I was hoping to get from this stool is inadequate for her to be able to use the toilet independently. I was visually attracted to the stool and I think that hindered my decision making. I also had to put non-stick strips on it because it is very slippery. I gave it 5 stars because this is a very lovely, well crafted stool. It's not their fault it didn't fit my purpose.

I absolutely LOVE this step stool!The color was perfect. It was assembled easily and it feels very sturdy. We've had this item for almost 6 months now and it's been climbed on, stomped on, pushed all over the house, used to store books and toys several times a day by a rambunctious 2 yr old and I'm actually amazed at how well this little stool has held up without becoming wobbly or even too scratched!I can't see any scratches, in fact, unless I'm looking close at the steps (there isn't many). I think this will last us a very long time with normal use.

This stool is made from pressed wood and falls apart. It is difficult to assemble and simply not worth the money. We had to completely reconstruct it with added support rods, gorilla glue and replacement with actual wood.

It's a nice toddler step with a good finish and storage bin. But it does require assembly and patience with assembly in addition to care when tightening screws is required. I read a review stating it was smaller than expected, but it's a toddler step and exactly the size I would want a toddler step to be. Our child uses it to gain access to the bathroom sink for hand washing and brushing teeth. 2 steps make coming down a little trickier than a single step and the gloss finish allows water to sit on the steps and test your nerves. But you can always add non-slip stick on strips if needed. Of course, supervising your toddler is always the best way to ensure safety.The storage bin is a nice feature but now we have the step, we don't need it and it is not used. That's not to say it won't be used in the future.Overall it is a good product and we are happy with it. 4 stars because we believe it is a little overpriced and could have some pre-assembly making final assembly easier on the customer.

Sturdy and nice and heavy. It is not tall enough for my 17 month old to reach the sink to wash his hands and he's a tall boy for his age. But that is OK it will be perfect in a year or two. The storage is a nice feature, was going to use it for bath toys but don't want to ruin the wood. I'm sure we'll find something dry to hide in it though. Glad I got it as a lightning deal for $23 because I don't think I would have paid $40 for a stool.

Important to note that I saved a chunk of change by purchasing this step stool "Used-Like New," from the seller, who is apparently the manufacturer. I expected it to be as described: "Like New." It arrived with some major scuffing on the corners and edges (see photos), as though it had been assembled and used for quite a while - at least several months - or otherwise damaged in storage or during packing. It seemed to have arrived in its original packaging. I would have listed this item as "Used - Good."The assembly instructions were somewhat straightforward, for those who are used to assembling from kits. Some hardware was missing, but one compartment contained one or two "extras," so it was ultimately a non-issue. The wood parts were not all accurately cut - the lid does not completely close. The kit was missing any plugs or covers for the somewhat prominent screw holes, though this does not affect the stool's function - or even its aesthetics very much.This is definitely a stool for a small child, about 4 or 5 years old maximum, as the bottom step is quite shallow - exactly 5 inches deep. Its woodgrain veneer is quite pretty - in places without scuffed corners and edges, it almost looks like solid wood. It also feels fairly sturdy.I'm not sure this stool, which is *not* solid wood, is worth the listing's full price. Unfortunately, after searching all over the internet I've come to realize that, for some reason, simple, aesthetically pleasing wooden step stools are extremely hard to find at a reasonable cost.

Got this for my daughter who is 3, and still not tall enough to reach items in the kitchen but loves to help. It did not fail. The setup was quite straight forward, the tools that are necessary to set it up were all included. At first when you upon the box, it looks like it will take a long time to set it up, however I was able to sit in front of the TV and get everything setup.The quality of the wood is pretty good, compared to the plastic step stools.
