Be sure that your grate is one of those listed or grate slots are 3/8" or larger.
Update: KAMaster has updated their product description, so you know how to ensure it will fit your cast iron grate. Mine was likely aftermarket and the lifter did not fit between the ribs. If you don't have one of those listed grates, now you know to measure the width between ribs for fit. 5 stars for prompt attention and a good product!Short version: Yes, I would recommend this grate lifter, with a caveat. It is well-made and sturdy. However, be certain that you have one of the grates listed or that the openings of your grates are at least 3/8" wide. The product descriptions says "This grate tool fit for most heavy-duty cast iron grate, like Green Grill Egg,Kamado Grill,Primo,Pit Boss,Louisiana and other kamado grill grate. It's a best companion for cast iron grate." It seemed that it should work with the cast iron grate on my Big Green Egg..However, I purchased my current Big Green Egg from an individual who had been an avid BGE chef for many years. It came with many accessories including a cast iron grill grate. Whether it was original BGE or after market, I do not know, but it was a cast iron grate that fit the fit as the regular BGE grate.Unfortunately, the slots on this grate are just over 1/4" wide, but this lifter is just under 3/8" and doesn't fit. It will only squeeze through the triangular ones at the very ends of the crossmember. This makes it impossible to use as the product images demonstrate. While lifting it from one side is not too difficult, replacing it is much more difficult. I may try grinding to enlarge a slot in grate. So yes, I can recommend this grate lifter, if your grate has at least 3/8" gaps. It would have been good for the seller to advise "To confirm that your cast iron grate will work with the lifter, measure the gap between grate bars to ensure they are at least 3/8" wide."Although it is 5 stars (if it worked), -1 because it didn't, and -1 because there was no warning or way to know if it would work... so 3 stars.

Fits My Genetic Table Top Grill
I take my little grill with my new cast iron grate everywhere: to the park, beach and some lakes. I wanted a grate that I could oil and that would absorb the heat for better grilling. This grate is good for that. It has a good sturdy weight and it's easy to clean. The only reason that I didn't give it an all 5 star rating is because it costed twice as much as my little grill. However, I'm not complaining because it does the job that I wanted it for.

Worth it even though it is a single use tool
This is not a tool that does a lot of different tasks. But lifting and setting a grill is part of the process for those who are more than occasional grippers. This tool is perfect for what it does: lifting and settling a grill. Not sexy. But perfect for its task.

Perfect replacement for my medium egg grill grate
Solidly built and preseasoned, a perfect fit. I run two kamoda style grills and after 10 plus years they’re both ready for a makeover of all steel inside parts. I replaced the grate on the large grill first and without hesitation after using it, ordered a similar grate for the medium cooker. Gets hotter than the classical grates that ship with the grills and makes unrivaled marks on your meat and veggies. The only downside on cast iron grates especially in our saltwater environment, you must keep them seasoned after use to avoid rusting. Excellent product!!!

May be a wee bit wide for some cast iron grates…
Full disclosure: The cast iron grate for my Lg BGE is almost ten years old. It’s clean, but spaces were a little narrow for the tool to fit. No worries—a little work with a file and the new lifter fits like a glove! WAY more stable way to lift than the original BGE cast iron grate lifter—grate can’t turn and drop accidentally (cause of death for my first cast iron grate). Love it.

Does not fit into the Big Green Egg cast grate
This is a sturdy lifter but, the handle is quite short and it is too thick for the grate. returned.
