Like magic for a 5.4L Triton
I bought these for an 04 F150 (5.4L 3V Triton) I'm trying to recondition for my son, who is about to get his license. They arrived on time (Prime 2 day), in original Motorcraft packaging (see pic) and in good condition.I ordered these because I had the dreaded knock/tap/click that many who own 5.4 3V F150s are all too familiar with. The truck sounded like a diesel at drive-thru windows, lacked power between 40 - 60 mph, vibrated like the drivetrain was about to drop on the highway, had a slight miss @ idle (not enough to throw a code, of course), and generally ran like garbage. The local dealer told me I "probably needed a new engine" and after hours of research, I was worried that I might have a bad lifter, I might need phasers, all new timing components or that the pesky dealer might be right about needing an entirely new engine. These COPs were the last attempt to salvage the truck before it went up for sale as a "mechanic's special".I'm happy to say that wasn't necessary...at least not yet! I put these on after work 2 nights ago, being sure to disconnect the battery beforehand and complete the throttle relearn procedure afterwards, and poof, she's running like a scalded dog again and as quiet as a church mouse. Throttle response is great, the miss & vibration are gone and I don't feel like Fred Sanford in the drive-thru anymore! Now, I've only put about 50 miles on them so far, so I suppose some of the improvement could be the result of the throttle relearn procedure, but I've run that same procedure when replacing the throttle body itself a few months back, when doing other engine or electrical work, etc., and it never ran this well or this quietly after any of those scenarios. We'll be taking the truck to the Outer Banks for my son's first attempt at beach driving in a few weeks, so the highway miles getting there and the off-road workout once we're there should tell me whether these improvements are permanent or not. If I notice any noteworthy changes, I'll update the review after we return. For now though, I couldn't be happier. One last thing, and this is coming from experience. Don't waste your money on cheap Chinese knock offs that offer a full set of 8 for the price of 1 or 2 of these. That will only help for a few weeks (if you're lucky). Buy these. They're engineered for your truck and will save you time, money and more headaches in the long run.

Fixed my rough running 5.4 Triton, (cylinders 4 and 6 misfire )
As far as I can tell these are OEM FoMoCo coil packs and they worked as advertised. Instal was a big of a pain because number 4 cylinder was buried way inback. The bad ones I removed were, (I suspect) non-OEM coil packs of an unknown origin.

These are factory OEM coils. the best.
These are factory OEM coils. Do not buy the cheap clones that come in 8x multipacks for cheap. Also do not buy the "racing" high performance ones from the performance parts makers . These ones are the only ones that will will last as proven by hundreds of posts on f-150 message boards. Mine came in the factory motorcraft sealed plastic bag. If it doesnt come in a sealed motorcraft plastic bag, it might be a fake.Do not make my mistake and buy the cheap eight packs for cheap. You will end up replacing them all one by one as they fail within two years. Ask me how I know.Usually the coils do not wear out. Usually the rubber boots go bad and the spark shorts to engine ground through the boot. If you are replacing your spark plugs and thinking about replacing your OEM coils as preventative maintenance - don't. Replace the boots instead. You can buy the 8x boot kits here on amazon (Standard Motor Products (CPBK240) for my 2004 5.4 3v F-150. Coil-On Plug Boot. They come with all new 8x boots and the contact springs. Remove your coil. Remove the old boot and spring and discard. install new boot and spring. apply dielectric grease to the contact points at the coil and where the plug contacts the spring boot and replace. Good as new.How to detect which coil on what cylinder is misfiring. If you experience hesitation, stumbling while accelerating you probably have a misfire. You can see the Ford cylinder misfire data in the MODE$06 data that some scanners can read. If your vehicle is misfiring enough to set a code, go to your local autoparts store and have them read the codes and ask if they can tell you which cylinder is misfiring. Sometimes they can.If that doesn't work you can scan is yourself with a android device (phone/tablet) a $4.99 program called "Torque Pro" and a bluetooth OBDII adapter. In torque pro go to "test results" while the engine is running and wait until it shows individual counts for individual cylinder misfires. It takes a few minutes before any of the misfire data even shows up in the list of "test results". drive your vehicle around and hopefully you will experience misfires. Pull over and look to see the misfire counts of the cylinders. it will tell you exactly what cylinder is misfiring so you know what coil to replace.Hope this helps. I now have 225,000 miles (as of Aug 2017) on My 2004 F-150 5.4 and have replaced my plugs three times now.
