To me these are the best Merv filters on the market. Man do they filter the air in my home! These filters have a wire mesh to keep the pleats in place even after they have a heavy buildup. The price is good for this quality!

My lifelong allergies are through the roof. For years I’ve used Filtrete 1900, and have always been annoyed that I need to buy 2 at a time because they don’t make a 20”x40” filter. At $20 each, this gets pricey. I thought buying these MERV 13 would save money. The cost, saved initial money, but my HVAC system had to work twice as hard, causing my electric bill to double.Yes, less particles pass through the filter, but also less air passed through the filters. Side by side the MERV 13 had half the filter surface area, than the Filtrete 1900. (More folds-see photo. Filtrete1900 left, MERV 13 right). Over the course of a month, the MERV13 reduced suction was causing the metal vent return to buckle and audibly pop each time the system turn on or off. This reduced airflow forced the internal fans to work harder, increasing my electric bill.I tested this assumption by switching out the filters for a week at a time. I kept internal temp and humidity constant and external temps varied by less than six degrees over the 60 day period. They may work well for others, they just don’t work for me.

The width of the filter is only 3.6in. It’s not 4in width. It is very loose for my requirements.Update ( Oct 3 2023) - the seller customer service is exceptional. After my review they reached out and fixed the issue proactively. They explained that it is a slim version and hence the mismatch. I have updated my review based on customer experience.

So far no problems during shipping and they work great in my HVAC system. They are plenty dirty after 90 days.

Right size and is good for for cleaner air . Depends how much you run the ac our furnace change at 3 months. Good price and made in USA !

They don’t carry the “thin” version of this filter at local Lowes or Home Depot. A 4” thick filter will NOT fit and I have to get the 3 5/8 to get it to fit.

Change every two to three months. Collects a lot of dust.

Solid product, just installed, haven't used yet. Will feel more comfortable using them knowing they're made in America.
