So far I'm loving this kit! It's very well made, and the instructions are clear and very easy. I'm only on Day 3, the uncovering phase, so I haven't actually seen the grass grow yet, but there are sprouts. I think this is a fun kit. My dog looks for wheat grass, so this is for him. But, even if he doesn't like the homegrown wheat grass, I know I'll use this kit over and over to grow sprouts and to start seeds. I love the bamboo exterior and the interior trays are very well made. As I said, the seeds have started sprouting, so I know the seeds are good too. I would not hesitate to give this as a gift—even for children, so they can watch seeds grow to grass. I'm super pleased with this purchase.

This growing system works great. The tray and mat concept is super easy and works perfectly. Being reusable adds good value. Now I just ordered new mats and a different seed I’ve used previously that has wheat, barley, oats and rye seed to use with this system. Our cats seem to like the variety. Overall though this system is so much easier than dealing with soil. The cover to facilitate sprouting also worked perfectly. This thing will last forever. Just refill and grow.

They refunded my purchase so that I can try again and I will place that order as soon as I am back from travel. Like I initially said, the product quality seems very high. And the company clearly cares a lot and has integrity. I will absolutely be placing another order. ---------- This item is very pricey compared to other cat grass kits available-basically double. Because of the reviews and my needs, I went with it and actually bought two because I have multiple cats and even a small dog that occasionally will eat the grass. Pros: The way to put it into use is written clearly, a clean process, and simple to set up. No dirt to contend with which means no dirt on my floor or in my pet's mouth when they pull the grass out. I do really like the overall look of the tray. The wood is more of a band that goes around the outside of the washable tray and I do like that for hygiene reasons-I feel like I can really scrub out the tray. It seems to be fairly well constructed, it's sturdy and not flimsy thin wood. It appears this is the same kit they would send if you were purchasing their human consumable items just labeled for pet use. The grass that did grow, grew tall and smells sweet like it should. Neutral: The varnish on the wood is not super smooth and flaking off but really that is a minor inconvenience and it is far enough away from the grass that I am not concerned for the safety of the cats. I did scratch off loose bits of the varnish flakes so that the cats don't ingest them but it left areas of now unprotected wood. Cons: The growth was not at all what was expected. It is about 30% of the seeds that sprouted and grew and I followed the instructions to a tee. I spent a long time making sure the seeds were in a single layer, they do fill the bottom nicely but just didn't sprout. I waited until now so that I was right in the temperature range for good growth too since that makes a huge difference with plants. I had the same results on both trays which makes me think it was not a singular package glitch. The refill packets are also pretty expensive so I don't know how many times I will refill it. Overall, I'm a little disappointed simply because of the price vs results. From what grew, I think there should be a few mats and seeds in the pack at this price point-that would make it worth it in my mind. Some of the cats did sniff around and pretty quickly ate down the thin sparse grass but others still went outside and ate the wild grasses that I was hoping to keep them from by growing my own.

It was a great experience for my kids to do something for my cat, but if your cat is as destructive as mine.. you find those seeds, the grass pulled out into shreds and water all over the floor. I wish it had a way to better hold the grass in maybe. For me, it was a hassle to clean up. If your cat is mellow, this is perfect for your cat then.

After fast germination, she went right to work eating it. Put it anywhere, she'll find it. Prefers it in her morning sun window spot where she made a bed out of it (whenever she wasn't eating it). Had to keep fluffing it back up and the grass just didn't care about the abuse and kept growing. Circle of happiness. Grows super fast. Very green. Very thick. Sturdy box. No hassles. Lasts longer than expected. A Winter months must have item. If only my lawn grew this green. Will continue to buy as long as price is right.

I’ve grown cat grass with soil several times before, but I ran out of soil and decided to give this self-watering kit a try. Big mistake. I followed the instructions exactly, filled the water to the recommended level, covered it with the black lid for three days, and guess what? Only a few sad little sprouts showed up, looking like they already gave up on life. The photo I included was taken after a little over a week. Yep, that pathetic. On top of that, it started to smell so bad I thought something died in there. Even my cat refused to go near it. I ended up throwing it away since I couldn’t even return it. Total waste of money. For $30, I could buy a mountain of soil and seeds that actually grow. Save your money and your nose, definitely do NOT recommend.
