So easy to use
So much easier to use, like the older gas cans. This fits my 5 gallon Midwest Can; the opening on the can is 1 ⅝” across. This is the same size as my Blitz can; however, the Blitz can has a shorter neck, so the spout doesn’t seat as well, and leaks a little when pouring in to the tank. (I don’t use it for my Blitz can, just tried it for the sake of more information - luckily, i don’t need it for my Blitz can, because it has a great spout that you just take the cap off and pour it out).I will add that other new gas cans I have, that have numerous “safety” features on the spouts that are designed specifically for that can, will often leak or spill much more than this product on my Blitz. In fact, I bought this specifically to replace a non-safe “safety” spout on my newer Midwest can.one caveat: the spout is very flexible, which can be an advantage; but when filling up the tank, it will leak (even on the Midwest can), if you let any weight from the can rest on the spout. Many of the “new” spouts are stiff so that the weight of the can is actually needed when positioning the spout on the outside of the gas tank.It has the plastic disc that covers the opening (that goes on top of the can’s opening, underneath the base of the spout) to keep contaminants and air out, plus a cap that goes over the end of the spout to keep dirt from getting in from the top (it’s relatively loose, but it’s perfectly fine for storage since the disc is protecting the contents of the can).

Scepter Replacement spout
I do not know about you but I detest the EPA regulated "NEW" gas spouts. All I can figure out is that these "NEW" are a more complicated way to spill more fuel all over the place. Although these are pricey (that is why 4 stars) they rehabilitate your old gas cans to like new functionality. These cans are all made in Canada and they are still legal up there. They are way smarter than we are. BEWARE THESE DO NOT FIT WEBCO CANS>

Works great. Love the vented spout
Just like the caps and spouts on gas cans from Canadian Tire, and just like they used to sell in the US. Vented spout is great. Easy to turn around and cinch the cap with the spout inside for storage/travel.

Finally a replacement spout that is not a spring loaded EXPLOSION hazard!
I have a number of mowers and equipment so they are fed off four five gallon gasoline jugs. After a dozen or so years, the filler neck on the jugs gets brittle and ultimately breaks. OK, no problem just go get another fuel spout right...ummm not so fast! The brainiacs in Washington DC who hire people to cut their grass and never have hefted a five gallon can to fill a small engine have no clue the results of their fumeless spout legislation. OMG - the new spouts are IMPOSSIBLE to use safely on a small engine. We had a police officer killed when using one of these last summer because they cause overflows and ten times the spillage you could ever get off just a regular spout.I searched all over a spout until I realized that ALL fuel spouts sold in the US are "safety spouts" which is really the ultimate oxymoron! Safety spout my...ummm....back side! I found this "WATER JUG" spout which also happens to be impervious to fuels and fits the old gas cans perfectly! Finally, now I can again SAFELY pour fuel into my small engines without self immolation! This spout is great; well made, the vent is clever and it's flexible enough to bend into the tank filler without spilling and wearing half of the fuel you're trying to put in the tank. VERY HAPPY HERE!

Bad Design
The only way you can seal your gas can for storage is to stick the spout down inside the can and stick the provided cap inside the retainer ring using the only provided seal on the spout as the seal. You cannot set the spout aside for storage because it is the only piece with a seal, the cap doesn't have a seal The spout cap doesn't even fit the spout nozzle so it is useless. You will need to wear rubber gloves when using this to protect your hands from being soaked with fuel because of having to store the spout submerged inside the tank.

For All Boaters? (Right!)
Bought a Spectre/Moeller gas can on a trip to Canada a few years ago just to not have to deal with the usually poorly designed EPA mandated gas can spout. Used it a few times (great!) then lost the stupid cap that blocks off the spout (round piece) and probably doubles as a way to block off the opening of the gas can if the spout is removed. Therefore, I had the pleasure of ordering an entire new spout to get the .25 piece I need to block the tip of the spout itself. Will pay to be more careful in the future. The downside of this non-EPA design is, I fear, what happens if the can turns over and there is nothing concrete to block the gas from gushing out its belly. Bad things could follow. If you want to pour gas just like they did back in the day, you can relive found memories with your Spectre gas can (once we can travel to Canada again!).
