Old South Tomolives Pickled Green Tomato, 8 oz jar | Gluten Free Pickled Vegetable | Great Cocktail Snack

These were introduced to me by none other than Johnny Unitas at a local watering hole. Stupid me, the bartender had to ask me "do you know who you were just talking to?" Wow. Anyway, this is my go-to garnish for gin martinis. These are real tough to find in even some of the more gourmet-oriented grocers and not all brands are the same. The Old South brand is my favorite - the fruit is firm and the brine is well spiced and not too vinagerey. I buy by the 8oz jar so they don't have to linger in the fridge too long in an open jar, though I've never had a batch go sour even after a couple of months (I assume they last even longer refrigerated but I'm picky on freshness). A wonderful alternative to a good Spanish olive. I believe Ketel One ranked these as their recommended garnish for vodka martinis - not my thing but I second their recommendation.

I went to a bar once that had a signature martini featuring these tomolives. The problem was: they NEVER had the tomolives! So I went looking for them myself and found these.They're good! They came packaged well and as expected. The only reason I deducted a star was for the taste. They're a lot more acidic than I was expecting (I've had their pickled brussels and was expecting them to be more like that), but in general, they're good!

I first had these at Disneyland's "Club 33" and was stunned how great they were.The flavor is slightly spicy, dill and tart (mouth watering as I write this). Of course, Hawaii has such a limited choice exotic goods that I jumped right to Amazon and found the product here on the site. I was very happy.These are small green tomatoes that have cured to perfection. Perfect for a spice Bloody Mary or other strong drink. Of course, they are good right of the jar.It is even more exciting to know that they are grown and processed by the same company here in the USA !

These are not like olives. Very much so more like a pickle. They are good and enjoyable. But not like a olive.

Pop one of these in your mouth and you will receive an unexpected burst of flavor. They are great to put in drinks but I just eat them out of the jar!

I bought these due to an old memory from when I was a kid. The memory was better. These are pretty tough to chew. They taste alright, it's just the tough texture that put me off. I know tomatoes are not olives but still they are tough. I'll keep looking to find that memory.

We went to a friend's house where they were serving Martinis. When I downed what I thought was a large olive I was surprised by the burst of flavor. It wasn't an olive it was a Tomolive. Our friends said they had gone to a bar that served Marinis that way and have been hooked ever since. Now we are.

I have bought these for years and these were the worst, extremely hard. Takes the joy out of my vodka martini
