Makes cutting them angles, EASY
These are a must for redoing stairs. I had carpet and wanted wood. My house was built in the 80s and nothing is square anymore. These allowed me to cut the tread with ease and without mistakes. I'm a 44 year old woman as well. Saying that because I'm not a contractor who does these tasks on the regular. I'm a woman who is capable so if I think I can, I do. I also bought pre-engineered red oak treads that cost $50 each. This tool kept me from messing any up, wasting money. 100% recommend

This stair tread template tool
This stair tread template tool is easy to use and helps create accurate measurements for stair layouts. The adjustable design holds its position well, making it simple to transfer measurements without repeated re-checking. The included storage bag is convenient for keeping the tool organized. It feels a bit lightweight, so making sure everything is tightened properly is important. Overall, it’s a helpful tool for DIY stair or shelving projects and works as intended.

Almost perfect
I bought this to measure the stairs as I was re-working them with hardwood treads. It has a great size range. Easy to adjust. Easy to use. Made perfect templates of my risers and treads - as long as I was very, very gentle with it. It is easy to bump and mess up the template size. Unfortunately, the screws to tighten the pieces down just spin when you try to tighten the knobs to make the template stiff. This makes it far too delicate and sensitive to bumps. It's very easy to mess up the template once you have made a measurement with it. I ended up repeating the measurements more than once to ensure it didn't move when I transferred it to the materials to be cut. It would be better if each piece had a stud pressed into place to hold the threads so you can tighten down the knobs to where the template was stiff and insensitive to the tiniest bumps.

Absolutely Needed when Redoing stair flooring
We used this stair tread template tool to measure and mark stair treads, and it made the whole process so much easier. It helped us get consistent measurements without constantly rechecking and second guessing every cut. What I like: • Speeds up measuring and marking for stair treads • Helps keep cuts consistent from step to step • Easy to adjust and lock in place • Feels sturdy and held its shape while working This is one of those tools that’s simple but saves a lot of time and frustration. If you’re doing stair treads or any kind of repeated measuring, it’s worth having.

VERY easy to use. Good quality
The person I bought this for said it was the BEST tool he has ever received. He replaced the interior stairs from nice hardwood. Having never done it before, he figured it would take him a day to do 2-3 stair treads. He said that this tool make it so easier to measure and use, he was able to replace 7 stair treads in 2 hours. WAY faster than he thought. He said he will recommend this to ANYONE and EVERYONE that has to replace stairs.

No instructions, very hard to tighten enough to prevent movement of ends while using.
No instructions. Washers are included, but no indication where they should go, between the sliding bars, or under the turn knobs? Like other reviewers of this product have indicated, the metal angles at each end are almost impossible to lock in place. Maybe you need the strength of Hercules. I appreciate the idea of one user who used softer washers. I will try that. I really do want this product to work as that would save me the time of building my own jig for only one job.

Don’t do it…
I know what you’re thinking - I’m only going to use this once so I’m not going to spent a lot of money on this thing. Well, same here. I didn’t listen to the reviews and bought it. Nothing but regret. Two of my treads are 1/8 off and most others are 1/16+. Most people may not notice but I do. Every day. The ends don’t stay locked in and by the time you bring the jig to the saw, it’s moved. There are zero instructions included. You might think with such a simple tool you don’t need them but I didn’t find it intuitive, especially given what’s at stake here. Listen…if you’re installing your own stair treads, don’t go cheap here. Treads are expensive and there are no second chances. Spend the money and get a professional jig. You’ll regret it every time you walk up and down your stairs if you don’t.
