Everything I need, very little I don't
The Edge Explore 2 is exactly the right system for someone who wants a simple package that will take in data from all your sensors. Mine is linked to my heart rate strap, my indoor trainer, the cadence/speed sensor on one bike, and the cadence-only sensor on another. The display is a good and useable size without being ridiculously big. Setup and use is simple for a tech-challenged guy like myself. And with the ability to link through the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone, it's easy to transfer the data to iHealth and Strava. I'm able to set it up to track and display exactly what I need develop my workouts. Essentially, it's everything I need without extraneous stuff. The longest ride I've done with it so far is about 30 miles on hilly terrain at 8,500+ feet MSL, and the ride barely made a dent in the battery life. By the way, the interface is a blend of touch-screen and three buttons. It's intuitive and easy to learn.

Large, colorful, easy to use touchscreen
After well over 10 years with my first Garmin, I decided to upgrade to a newer version, and I love it!!! Nice big colorful touchscreen that is easy to use! Being able to upload route maps and get turn by turn navigation is awesome! Love that I can control my music - play, pause, volume - so easily from my screen - a bonus I didn't know I needed! I also upgraded from an old iPod shuffle (attached with a wire to a helmet-mounted speaker) to a Bluetooth speaker I can clip to the strap of my bibs. My bike tech is now up to date! 😁

Great bike GPS - easy to use
Have used for about two months now - over 500 miles. Easy to use - big plus is the Garmin tracking features so wife doesn't worry where I am 2.5 hours into a 75 mile ride. I def. recommend. Good battery life - easy to navigate while riding, numerous data display options.

Great for recreational cyclist
This computer has a big screen that is very visible even in bright sunlight. The screens are customizable but it would be nice if you could customize them from the app. The computer has about every feature a recreational cyclist could want. The availability of 3rd party apps and data fields adds additional features and functionality.

For 300???
I'm livid about the price. Modern phones and/or smart watches, when paired with the right sensor, can make excellent bike computers. Which then begs the question, is the value of this gadget really worth it? It's got back-tracking(strava), road surface type(strava), off course recalculation, turn by turn, every popular mapping app already does this), road hazard alerts(apple and google maps), and ride type specific maps(stravas working on it and if you already have a Garmin sub you should already have access to this feature). “Smart notifications”, live tracking, course creators, and able to do custom workouts from the garmin app…watches and phones do this too. What's unique about a Garmin bike computer: -Bike alarm to deter bike thieves and, I presume, device thieves. You have to remember to set the alarm manually. The alarm is also not very loud. -compatible with the overall expensive VARIA, which is garmin bike radar and lights series -compatible with smart trainers -somewhat waterproof in the rain The only thing -Bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity (no Wi-Fi, this is a con). SO YOU NEED TO HAVE YOUR PHONE WITH YOU FOR THIS DEVICE TO WORK. -Can not do custom workouts on this thing, get training loads, hydration reminders, or real-time weather updates Let's recap. This is one of Garmin's newest and cheapest biking computers, and it's got none of the advanced features expected from a Garmin bike computer. The watches, when compared to the more recent watches, Forerunner, Epix, and Fenix line-up, are better for cycling than the others. This computer does the same thing as a phone paired to a Garmin watch. You'll still need proper sensors to get accurate data. Overall, is this bike computer worth the money? It's not for training, just an overlay display Absolutely not. Save yourself the regret and money. Get speed and cadence sensors, a battery pack for your phone, and a waterproof mount for your phone.

I have been cycling with various versions of bike computers for many years. This unit is capable of working with newer, more recent bike tech such as mobile phone connectivity for others following you while riding, adding devices such cadence/speed sensors, radars, lights, etc. While this doesn't have the level of analytics if you are into higher end / more intense training, but all the basics are there and then some. GPS is excellent, and tracking routes, etc. works fine. No live Strava for those who wish to have that, but you will pay much more for those kinds of features. The screen is incredibly easy to read in direct sunlight, and while this isn't cheap, as a dedicated device, it handles the job. Some might prefer a mobile phone app option, but then you could be limited to things such as lower screen brightness, limitations on sensor connectivity, faffing between apps, etc. For the money, this has been a great riding companion - especially for my riding habits which are get out on the road or gravel path, ride for an hour or two and
