When the item first arrived I didn't even recognize what it was. Once I realized what the item was it was obvious (especially after looking at the extra pictures on Amazon), that there was a thin paper layer covering the black plastic. It required a sharp object to be able to start peeling the paper off. Once started, it peeled off easily. It was a little tricky to assemble (start from the bottom and work up). If the correct side of the base isn't facing up, then the top and bottom holes don't line up. Just check that out before putting it all together. Once assembled it looks just like the main photo. Haven't used it yet so it's hard to say how it will hold up. I'll start with 4 stars and adjust if needed.

It looks much nicer in photos but works fine for the price. This photo is to show peeling off the protective paper..I was super disappointed at first as it looked like pressed particle board. A friend had to tell me! First time I put it together the holes on top didn’t line up with the bottom ones so brushes were angled poorly I rotated the top and now it’s fine... no instructions in envelope. Will keep an eye out for one made in USA but it’ll do for now!

This product is exactly like the picture. The reviewers complaining about it being heavy cardboard etc didn't read! Peel off the thin protective paper covering. Also, the holes line up just fine! Again, read the 4+ star reviews. Line the holes up and put the brackets in the right direction. If west/east doesn't line up turn the bracket north/south. It really is simple and snaps right together. All the low ratings are just peoe who aren't paying attention.

Update. It is acrylic but covered very tightly and thoroughly in brown paper. Still, a 1-star review because it does not line up properly and the brushes won't stand upright.Well, this was certainly a disappointment. It is pressed board, not acrylic as stated in the description. I guess I should have read the reviews, but I used a link from someone I purchase other products from so I figured I was good. I will be returning this.

I had to return this because it was very flimsy, was not the same color as pictured, did not turn & did not fit right when I put it together. Very disappointed.

It worked fine....my only issue was it doesn't spin and I didn't want it scratching my table. Ended up finding a much better solution at our local craft store.

This seems to be a great stand, sturdy acrylic, just peel off the paper lining the only reason for 4 stars is because yes it could use one simple piece of paper on how to connect the two pieces and then connect the top and bottom. I just looked at the pictures a couple of times and figured it out.

It was very difficult to put together, there were no directions. The base broke while attempting to assemble and it went in the garbage.
